Williamsburg proved a lot against Raceland, especially in the trenches. But Mayfield has made the state finals a "home away from home" the past couple years. Mayfield has more experience in the finals compared to the jackets.

Welcome to BGP, and thanks for your analysis of the Raceland-Williamsburg game. Definitely agree that Mayfield has an edge as far as experience goes.

Thank you. Mayfield has a strong program. Williamsburg has built theirs year by year and is slowly becoming one of 1A's strongest programs. IMO Mayfield is much better than Williamsburg on paper, but paper means nothing when it comes to the playoffs. Williamsburg is a good team or they would not be in the finals. Anything can happen. It would be interesting to see Williamsburg contest Mayfield for an entire game, but I think Mayfield's experience and endurance runs away with this one early in the second half.

This statement really surprises me. The Williamsburg WR's are actually one of their strengths, Griffith and Shelton often times make big plays out of nothing.

I totally agree with you. I thought the receiving corp was a strength of Williamsburg's. That is why the weather forecast has me calling this one for Mayfield. I would like to have seen this one on a 65 degree dry day. Then we could've seen Wburg's offense in full stride. Rain, freezing rain & low temperature gives the advantage to Mayfield. IMO

Weather is a part of the game. Surely the offense isnt built only to work in 65 and above?

I just used an utopic temperature. I'm just saying freezing rain and low temperature is not in favor of a passing team. Geesh

I think Griffith was out for most of the last game. He's supposedly a go for this week though.

This is a blowout for Mayfield. Im predicting a running clock. I would love to see an upset here, but I don't think its gonna happen. Williamsburg has a great coaching staff and I know they will do everything they can to get their kids ready

I wouldn't say a blowout but I definitely think Mayfield's coaches will get their kids focussed. Williamsburg is no blow over team. Especially when a team makes it this far. Mayfield, IMO, will get the better half of Williamsburg.

Also, you don't see very many teams, at any level, win championships without a decent to solid running game. Williamsburg's run game is nearly nonexistent. Mayfield has a solid run game and I believe Mayfield will find a way to run against Williamsburg's defense. And when Williamsburg begins to bring more into the box, Mayfield may just throw a few touches over the top to spread them out. Mayfield's front line, I believe, will stir up some pressure and make the QB uncomfortable. Mayfield wins in the trenches.

I don't know but you trying to claim that no one giving your Jackets any credit is just not true.
You are proud of your team as you certainly should be. I know that I along with others here are proud of our schools, teams. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that or having confidence. Just a note - just bc someone may predict, pick an opponent of W-burg to beat you doesn't at all mean that person is against the Jackets. That means they think the other team will win, that's all and there is nothing more to it than simply that. I thought that Raceland would beat Williamsburg, that did not mean that I wanted to insult Williamsburg, just was what I thought. And btw I was way wrong, your Jackets handed ours back to us and were no doubt the better football team and that is what I said after the game.
You seem to have the "I" syndrome..(I did this, I said that, I knew this, etc..). I have no idea what you are attempting to stir up but it's just not working.
So, I have no animosity toward your team, you or anyone Give that one up. I would leave you with just a couple of suggestions....1.) might want to see a good Chiropractor - you must have thrown you shoulder out by patting yourself on the back and no doubt have a big heavy chip on the other one. Oh one other thing....have you ever attended Fairview H.S. or one of their supporters ? ............. I'm done.
Yep. I touched more than one nerve, otherwise you wouldn't have typed a novel. For someone that doesn't care, you sure do go on and on and .....yawn. Anyway, back to more important things. I spoke too soon about Griffith. Looks like he's gonna be a game time decision.

Williamsburg's running game was basically the QB taking off when pressured or on a deigned QB run wasn't it ?

Yes. They're run game was very simple. They thro in a QB draw, fullback draw, or a off tackle zone on first down. Very simple. IMO you need a sound running game if you want to beat Mayfield. You have to keep their defense on the field, and their offense on the sideline.

Random stat alert. This means nothing more than Mayfield has a strong tradition and Williamsburg is venturing into new territory.

-Mayfield's senior class has won 18 playoff games.

-Williamsburg High School in history has won 15 playoff games.

The Cardinals have been on quite a role these last few years. Honestly, this is probably the least talented team they've had, but, it maybe the best TEAM they've had. I think it's Coach Morris's best coaching job of his career. He's pushed all the right buttons with this group and the kids are like sponges that soak in everything the coaches say. They might be void of superstars like Jackson, Higginson, Brown, Shelton, Murrell, but, all they do is line em up every week and kick other teams tails all up and down the field. Not much more you could ask for.
