Well, I think I was wrong. I bought into the Rowan hype like alot of others. Congrats to Mason.

Something like 11-27; some of the incompletions were on him but his receivers didn't always help him out either. Also had 17 yards rushing on 5 attempts.

Nice win for the Royals tonight. Marched down the field on the opening possession for a 7-0 lead. Rowan got into the red zone twice in the first half but came away with no points on two missed field goals. Teams traded scores in the third quarter; a Mason TD with 4:55 left sealed the deal as the Viking faithful, who had a very good crowd tonight, stampeded for the exit.

Royals were finally back to full strength on defense and it showed - bent a few times but broke only once. Cross had 80-some yards on a dozen carries; the other RB (Worthington - sorry, I didn't catch the name) had 100 yards rushing. Keeping Cross in check was a big key. Harris for Mason with something over 100 yards and a boatload of tackles as usual.

Rowan vs. Boyd next week in district play, Mason hosts Harrison County.

PS - had to be close to a (dubious) team record for penalties called on the Royals tonight. I think I lost count when they reached the teens.

He throws the ball on a low trajectory. Several passes were tipped by defensive linemen. Mason was ready defensively. If it hadn't been for some holding penalties, Mason probably would have won by more.

We thought about going to Flemingsburg via the road that goes to Petersville, but waited it out instead. About a 50-minute delay.

I was very impressed with the Mason County defense tonight. Didn't seem to get fooled by any of the gadget plays; did a very nice job staying at home. Took away Cross and made the other guys try to win the game.

Interesting listening to the Rowan coach on the postgame radio show. In so many words, he said that his team still hasn't been able to shake the label of "not able to beat the good teams." Very gracious in defeat, but didn't mince too many words.

Rowan County's WR's dropped 5+ passes. Wing is a very nice QB. Also Rowan missed 2 field goals. Mason could have ran off tackle over and over all night, but for whatever reason decided not too.

Probably because they got called for holding every time they tried.

Seriously, I sure hope not regarding the accident. We were about 20 cars behind and really couldn't see anything.
