Congratulations to Lexington Catholic, great game plan and very well executed. I guess people can quit saying they have a weak defense. Great fan support also by the LexCath faithful, very classy. Good luck to all of you and I hope you win state; I know itís long overdue for you and well deserved.
Highlandsís defense played extremely well, holding Burke and company to 17 points is nothing hang your heads about. I felt the offense struggled because they faced a stellar performance from LexCath and the Highlands play calling was the worst and most predictable Iíve witnessed all season. Sorry HHS faithful, thatís just a cold hard fact, when somethingís not working you need to have a plan B and I didnít see one.

I'd give him the gameball except the defense wouldn't give it up. I also want to say that I really like the Highlands stadium atmosphere probably the best I've experienced.
Revere really had little to do with Ben getting very few touches last night. Your D line and LBs deserve most of the credit. The pressure they exerted on Cecil was the key factor. He had no time to get the ball to Guidugli. Ben was open on several occasions but the ball could not be thrown to him because of the D line and Lbs pressure. He was also overthrown a couple times when he was open in the end zone. So Revere may be a capable DB, but don't kid yourself into thinking he shut down Guidugli one on one. The entire Knights defense and coaching staff deserve the credit. That said, the Knights Defense was fantastic last night. If they play like that against the Rock, they win handily and move on to the title game! Good luck Knights!

Not in my mind. Combine last nights defense with their normal offensive showing and it's lights out. imho

Here's the question: Was last night's LC D performance an aberration? They have given up lots of points to their better opponents.

That's exactly why I had the disclaimer in my first post.

The shutout shocks me. But of course I have "double shock" since we were shut out last night by a great Bardstown team. Congrats to all my HHS friends on another great year. Congrats to LexCath for making it over the hump. I don't claim to be a LC fan, but it is a nice win for CKY football.

While LC's defense hasn't been what would be considered "upper-tier" stuff...they do have the athletes to play superb defense on given nights. I didn't see the game last night, but I imagine LC took advantage of the fact Highlands has become pretty one-dimensional over the last couple of seasons? There's nothing wrong with being one-dimensional, particularly if your talent suits it, but a quality opponent can certainly take advantage of it if the cards fall right.

Thanks for the congrats TTC and the same back at you for your season. Like ours it ended two weeks earlier than it should have. This site has allowed some good friendships to develop between programs like your's and our's. I hope someday in the near future we start playing each other again.

Would be nice if the programs would at least agree to another 2 year deal to play. If they do, I'm coming to your house AGAIN to eat your food, drink your beverages, and steal some more field turf out of your garage. I still miss Henry's awesome cooking.

Regardless of whether we are playing or not, you are always welcome in our home. As for Henry's cooking, it seems like this week that bad feeling I had in my gut had nothing to do with her cooking!!!!

WOW!!!! For some reason I've had to wait till now to get on BGP but im here to say I feel like a proud papa currently. Im so proud of the Knights team right now words can't really describe my feelings. Still praise goes out to Highlands for a hard fought game.

All I can say is that I wish I had been there. Will Osborne had a heck of a game from what I heard offensively and definately defensively. People knock the Knights D for being porous at times but I know the group has a lot of heart and im excited to hear they came out and played maybe the greatest defensive game in Knights history.

What can you say about Burke? He didn't have his greatest game but he definately proved his heart last night. He was hurting going into the game and I've been told on his QB keeper he hurt himself worse yet he remained in the game the whole night and kept leading the team.

UTB gets to watch the boys one more time at least this year!!!!

The kid has more DESIRE than any player I've seen play at Highlands field over the last decade. I've seen a couple better players than the Lexington Catholic QB, but NO ONE WITH MORE DESIRE to win. Congrats to Lexington Catholic's coaching staff for outcoaching Highlands.

Ditto to the previous post. The QB from LC was hobbling from the 1st qtr on, but toughed it out like a warrior. Hope to watch him do great things for NC State over the next 4-5 years! Again, best of luck to LC on their drive to the championship!

A lot of Birds have ruffled feathers today ... maybe LexCath was simply the better team. They have been all season.
