I do get a kick out of how Conner fans always throw Conner ahead of Cooper this year in the polls or even a tie with Cooper. To me it doesn't matter where Cooper sits in the polls, either behind or ahead of whoever. I personally liked the pre season coaches poll where Cooper was snubbed all together and didn't even make the NKY top 10. We knew we had a good team this year but simply kept quiet and when we were getting ready to play Ryle, we knew we had the better team but didn't expect a blowout like we had, but we still kept quiet and listened as teams wondered what was wrong with the team we beat instead of admitting that Cooper might actually be that good. It started the Wed before the first game when they had a coaches corner with Ryle's coach and Cooper's coach at a local Barleycorns restaurant, when discussing the scrimmages the week before, instead of commenting on how good Cooper looked, the question posed to Cooper's coach was "What do you think was wrong with New Cath? (Cooper beat NCC 48-7 in that scrimmage) . So we like being the so called underdogs, we liked it when we didn't get any respect and if we won it was always "What was wrong with the other team" instead of "Cooper may be a team to look out for this year"
We have our weak spots, but I won't be one to point them out here lol.....don't want to help the competition out any haha. But at the same time I've been reading this board a lot but haven't posted until today and always found it entertaining how Conner fans always talk down about the Cooper team (not that I would expect anything different from any fans for any team, that is what makes this fun) but I noticed how a certain member on here is so convinced Conner is better than Cooper and keeps saying that Conner will prove it when they play Cooper, yet this same member also keeps stating that Conner was better than Cooper last year even though Conner lost to Cooper last year. So i wonder if Conner beats Cooper this year will he claim Cooper to be better since the roles would be reversed from last year and he claimed the loser of that game to be the better team?
I love those types of debates, it's all in good fun but does get entertaining how passionate we all can get about our teams. So as far as the rankings right now, sure I think it's a coin toss between Cooper and Conner for the spot ( i said before the season started this year that Cooper's toughest games will be against Conner and Boone) not saying they would win all the others, but those two teams are the ones that match up best against Cooper in my opinion. so whatever the outcome of the Cooper Conner game one thing is for sure, it will be a great game.
Right now Cooper is 3-0, Conner is 2-0. Both put up a lot of points in their first 2 games, both scored a lot against HC, the big difference being Cooper scored 49 before halftime and never played a starter the entire 2nd half while Conner played their starters on both sides of the ball until the last couple minutes of the 3rd qtr. I think the biggest measuring tape right now between the teams is their defense. Cooper has allowed 13 points through 3 games (7 of those were when Cooper's 3rd stringers were playing defense at the end of the HC game) which equals to only allowing 4 points a game, while Conner has given up 40 points in 2 games which equates to 20 points a game.
As far as their match up against each other i give the edge to Conner in the following areas: QB, RB, OL I give Cooper the edge in DL, WR's, Safeties. I thik it is a very even matchup and should be a great game, but i also think if the two teams played 10 times this year they would split the series 5-5, it's that close.
Being a neutral observer of both teams............
1. IMO, Cooper did not perform well in the playoffs as a #1 seed and got knocked out at home by a #4 seed, that was not good. Conner was a point away from probably playing the state championship.
2. To your New Cath comment. I think NCC is showing they are having a subpar year by their standards.
3. Conner did lose to Cooper last year and their starting QB went down with an injury early in the second half. Perhaps the outcome could of been different, who knows?
4. Conner pulled their starters early in the 3rd, not late in the 3rd. Otherwise, they probably would of scored 100.
5. Conner has only played 2 games thus far and it's way to early to start making predictions about the Conner/Cooper game.
You seem to have some anger towards another member of BGP by the tone of your post. Should be a great game when they do meet up later this month.

My Son plays for Cooper and I was at the game last year ! Loosing there QB last year did not change a thing . Not to say the kid is not a great player , Cooner just couldnt keep the D line out of the back field . I was very surprised that Fogle did not get that many carries in the game though .

Cooper and Conner should be ahead of Franklin County; other than that, looks good.

You are wrong. Changed everything. This was a very close game. Copper got a nice break. They won. That's all that matters.

RE, I respect the QB at Conner a lot and have always cheered for him to do well. But, in last years game, Conner did not have any success until he went out in the 3rd and they brought in the back-up. I remember standing next to some Conner dad's that I know and they couldn't believe they did better with him out. NOW, it was one game and maybe the Cooper kids were more fired up to stop him as he was a focal point and maybe they let their guard down a little when he went out. Look at the tape and add up the performance from both and see. I don't have a tape but I bet I'm correct in this one.
Should be a great game coming up. I hope both teams can stay undefeated and make it a super atmosphere over in Hebron.

You are making the assumption that the second half was going to be a mirror of the first half. Simply not true.
I have watched plenty of film. No worries on that front. Some interesting things on that film. I'll leave it at that.

I am not trying to put the kid down at all ! I think he is a great QB , but Conners line just is not up to par with Coopers D line . I am a fan of the kid . ( when he is not playing Cooper !!! )

Who said anything about putting a kid down? My only point was that it was to bad that both teams were not full strength in the second half. What if your QB would of left the game? Think it would of affected the outcome?

I have no anger toward any member of BGP, if it came off that way then i apologize.
as far as last years game, Cooper was actually playing better before Conner's QB got knocked out of the game in the 2nd half, Conner managed to make the score look closer once the QB was knocked out.
As far as the HC game, Conner kept Barker and Co. in until 3 min's left in the 3rd qtr, how is that pulling them early? Conner also didn't have a running clock before halftime like Cooper did. Just saying
as far as the playoff game last year, yes Cooper could of and should of played better and won that game, they had 3 TD's called back by penalites which were very dicey at best. but they still lost as it was the very first time in school history they ever played in the playoffs. As far as Conner being 1 pt away from moving on in the playoffs, just like Cooper they still lost.
As i referred to before i find it humorous when i see posts claiming Conner is better if they beat Cooper this year, yet the same criteria according to the same people doesn't come into play for last season. It's Conner is better no matter what, if they lose to Cooper then we still claim them to be better, if they beat Cooper then that proves they are better. I'd love to live in that fantasy world of thinking lol

I may be wrong, but i believe it was 20-6 when the QB went out of the game.
It really wasn't as close as the final score showed, but either way, both are very good teams this year and whoever goes further in the playoffs this year i will be rooting for. I'd love to see one of the local teams bring home a championship. My son has too many friends on Conner's team and I have too many parents that are very good friends on Conner's team to ever root against them (except when they play Cooper) our kids have played football together for 11 years now and I just love watching kids i watched grow up before my eyes play against eachother,

Really should get your facts straight before making false statements. Conner's QB was pulled at the 7:07 mark against HC, fact.
Fantasy world? Take a look in the mirror. Who do you think had a more successful season last year? No fantasy world here.

Conner's QB was "knocked" out of the game when the scoreboard read 10-7 Cooper. It was right around the 7:45 mark of the 3rd. But, oh yeah.......I forgot, Conner was getting dominated. Fantasy world is alive and well.

Oh, I'm sorry, I was going by what was reported on here about the HC game, bottom line the starters were still playing in the 3rd qtr, I thought so. Which brings us to my original question, how do you come to the conclusion that Conner is better because they scored more points against HC with their starters in the game into the second half while still giving up 21 points?
And as far as last years game, anyone who saw it knows the game was never as close as the score, yes if you want to use the word "dominated" well that would be a good way of calling it I guess.
Either way, this year will be a tough one for cooper I think, I've thought all year that game will be our toughest of the season.

Just try and keep things as factual as possible. Makes for a more credible experience. Don't like when things are distorted to discredit or in this case credit. The C/C game will be a good one. Good luck to your team.

Good luck to you all also. Friends of a lot of parents on Conner and hope one of the two teams take state, of course I want cooper to be my first choice though lol
