Default Jackson County @ Garrard County - Predictions

After opening the district season with a win in the rain on Friday against Wayne County, Garrard County will look to make it two in a row against Jackson County this week. The Golden Lions had lost two straight one-point games before defeating Wayne 21-14 to improve to 2-3. Jackson County lost their first district game last week against Taylor County and are currently 0-5.

On offense the Golden Lions have been either feast or famine so far scoring 41 one two occasions, while having two games of 10 and 13 points. On average Garrard is putting up 26.3 points per game. Wayne County has struggled on offense so far, but the numbers have improved as the season has progressed. The Cardinals had their best offensive output last weekend when they scored 34 points at Russell County. On the season Wayne is scoring 13.8 point per game.

The Garrard County offense hasn't been as strong as it was last season, but the Lions are still scoring points effectively. Currently Garrard is averaging 25.2 points per game while allowing 30.4. Jackson County has failed to reach double figures in every game except one (38 against Betsy Layne) and are averaging 11.6 per game. The Generals defense is allowing 32.2 per game.

With Jackson County being a relatively new football program, the Lions and Generals haven't had many meetings on the gridiron. Two seasons ago they met for the first time with Garrard winning 54-0. Last season's game was originally scheduled for McKee, but was moved to Lancaster after Jackson County's field wasn't ready. The Lions won that one 67-16, scoring the second most points in one game in school history.

    Historical Preview
*This marks the 3rd meeting between the schools
*Garrard County leads the all-time series 2-0
*The last meeting between the schools was a 67-16 Garrard win last year
*The will be the 3rd matchup in Lancaster; Garrard has never played at Jackson County

One of the things that strikes me about Garrard is how many young kids, freshman and sophomores, are making big plays on both sides of the ball. They have some solid upperclassmen as well, but they definitely are going to be a program on the rise.

Very true. The biggest problem with young kids is how they can look great on one play and awful the next time. They just don't have the necessary experience to play consistently. But the talent is there in the lower classes and as long as they stay healthy and keep working hard, it will pay dividends.
