Not much love for CAL on this site. Feels like they are the Louisville area version of Simon Kenton

I feel like SK gets the treatment they do on BGP less because of who they are or bc of their scheduling and more bc of the way they are talked up by some posters. CAL is legit and IMHO has a legit shot at winning it all as opposed to SK.

Bad comparison, CAL has actually won something before.

I just think it's awesome that they switched the playoff format up this year and it happens to be a year where these 3 teams are head and shoulders above the rest of the class. So thankfully we will get 2 of these 3 teams in the championship instead of having all 3 of them on the same side of the bracket. Already looking forward to that game in December.

The poll on here for who would win the DeSales/CAL matchup was fairly close 22 in favor of DeSales, 16 in favor of CAL. But on the Pick 10 contest this week DeSales was picked 24 times compared to CAL being picked 5 times. I am proud to say I was one of the few that chose CAL. DeSales has definitely been the more hyped team on here and maybe rightfully so after they began the season with wins over St. X and Butler and then kept taking care of business week after week with a tough schedule. Mayfield has also been more hyped than CAL because of all the points they score and the impressive Corbin win. I live in Western Kentucky so I dont see much football outside of this area but even I know not to forget about the Centurions. They have played a stellar schedule and have been very impressive in their margin of victory each and every game leading up to last Friday. They have been in the final four the past 2 seasons with a championship under their belt two seasons ago. They are loaded and have more D1 talent than any 2A school in the state and more than many of the big schools also. I just wouldn't feel slighted just because CAL was flying under the radar the first half of the season. DeSales just started off on top of the mountain because of the St. X win and Mayfield had the marquee Corbin win but CAL proved once again on Friday that they are as good if not better than any 2A team or any team of any size for that matter. I am just excited that the caliber of football at the top of 2A is what it is and am very much looking forward to those last 2 weekends of the season.

I just feel like we don't have a CAL champion on this site to tell us whats really going on with the program like we do for alot of other teams. Desales has some guys and Mayfield has some guys, but not CAL.

And as a matter of fact, I posted updates for the CAL v Desales game. Shouldn't it have been a poster for CAL or Desales? I think so.

So we need you and your friends to post CAL info and likely that "CAL Love" will grow!

Does Owensboro Catholic have any kind of chance to win the State?

For them to beat Mayfield and the DeSales/CAL winner 2 weeks apart from each other would be highly unlikely.

The stars would have to align and at least two of the teams they meet the last two weeks would have to be off or have lots of injuries. Based on seeing CAL and DeSales and looking at the teams O Catholic has losses to. Anything is possible though.

Well, since Owensboro Catholic was finally brought up in this thread, Cal Fan was right in the stars aligning for them to go all the way.. BUT .. this is a very good OCath team this year. Unfortunately for them, the top 3 in 2A are as well. I suspect they will give Mayfield all they want in the third round since it will be played in the 'boro.

    I think it’s Mayfield’s to lose.

I think CAL is clearly #1 after handling DeSales. Looking forward to when Mayfield plays one of these teams in playoffs.

Somerset hasn't beat anybody. They can't play with the top 3 teams in 2A.
