My answer to this thread is NO.
Scott Co is a rising program and has earned the respect of the state. Their pure size and strength in numbers presents a lot of problems for the Birds.
Dale made this schedule out for a reason.....Number 6 in a row !!! But the Birds expect to win...you can bet on that.

I believe that it would be somewhat of an upset if it was to happen; wouldn't consider it too big of a surprise if it did.

Everybody sees different things. I'm sure if I lived in Fort Thomas I'd see things in a white and blue hue also.

Question of the week defensively.

If Scott County wins. Highland fans will be the only thing UPSET!

Friday will be a great test for both teams. They will see where they stand against a really good team & where they need to improve. The ultimate goal for Highlands and I assume Scott County is State Champs.
Does Scott Co. have a chance at a state title?

No. It appears the events of two Fridays ago are already forgotten and dismissed by Birds fans!

What does your response have to do with his question? As to the events of 2 weeks ago, Birds fans have not forgotten or dismissed the thrashing and more importantly, the team has not. On the other hand, there's only one T in the state.

A chance, yes, but probably won't win it. Unless Trinity implodes, the Rocks take 6A.
Even if Scott Co. beats the Birds, it does not figure into the state title equation of either team.

Anyone else have an opinion?
Is a Scott County win an upset?

If Scott County wins it is not an upset. Maybe in the minds of the tradition rich highlands group. But talent in High school is year to year. And the last few years, Scott County has as much talent as anyone top to bottom (outside of Trin).....The money, support and talent pool to pull from for scott county with Toyota being the primary back has greatly affected its status. Scott County right now, is 1 of the top Public schools in the state. Scott county almost operates like a county with a military fort in its lines with 10k Toyota Members working in and around Scott County, they pull in talent from all over.

Absolutely it's an upset.
Scott County has yet to prove that they can beat the Trinity and Highlands of the state. Now, that doesn't mean we won't win or that we won't begin to establish ourselves after we beat Highlands on Friday. We have laid the groundwork for our future and after we make this statement Friday night the state of Kentucky will recognize that we aren't just a basketball school any longer. We are here to stay.

Upset by name and tradition only. Not by the product on the field THIS YEAR. Not by any means. Scott County is as talented and well coached as any public school in KY. Its being called an upset by Highlands fans in defense of their very proud name and tradition, and by Scott County fans as a self defense mechanism to prevent let down of their TRuE expectations to contend for a title. That's the real true answer.

So if you took the private schools out of the equation, bascially X and T for this conversation, who would be the number one public school in the state, regardless of class? I would have to think that the top public 6A school in the state would have to be in the conversation if not the unanimous favorite. So why is there any talk of this being an upset? If they are good, then they are good, regardless what's on their chest or what the past says. We'll find out in a couple days when they play the HHS team that most seem to think is in a very "down" year.

Good points but I think you are stretching when you say very as in very down.
I think the talent is down at Highlands but not as much as you assert.
Look at it this way, if Scott County wins then everyone from Highlands can use that as their excuse.

You made my point. It's exactly why it is not an upset "IF" Scott County wins.....The state runner up in the biggest classification from the year prior bringing back a lot of its weapons is most definitely in the discussion for 1 of the remaining "Best of thePublic Schools" discussion.......and I never said that either team is way down or up. I personally do not think that Highlands has to be way down for Scott County to be competitive or even better than these days.

I know you didn't say it. Just a lot of perception across these forums that HHS is not where they have been in the last 4-5 years. It was kind of a shot at them, not you.
I'm not saying the talent level is up or down, but I know it's early and Dale is very excited about this team for some reason. So I have to think he knows why. You don't see any of their names on any recruiting lists or top players, yet Dale thinks this team can be special. Being special may take time for a team without superstars to carry them early.
Time will tell regardless what happens this week.
