Yesh he certainly has been a little snake bit for a few years. The bad thing is the injury that he had to his shoulder that has kept him out of baseball for a few years was healthy enough and he was having a very successful baseball season at 14u. Now the ligament damage.......UGH!!!!

Hopefully he wil recover on schedule or a little early!!!!!!!

Anything new going on with the team? I heard they will go full gear later this week. I also heard they scrimmage Trinity on August 10.

The way those scrimmages Go I would be surprised if the frown get a whole lot of snaps vs. Trinity. There is a time limit. I believe it is 3 hrs...

Great to be back! The football season creeps up fast when the Redlegs are winning! I've watched these boys closely(on the field with them) for the last two years and I told Nick at the 8th grade showcase he was getting a great group of boys! If he gets half the talent that came from FTJFL plus some wild cards he's sitting pretty. No doubt that Green team was loaded but the red team had a bunch of kids that didn't get showcased and could surprise you. I am excited to see them play. I saw Dougherty at one of the varsity games and stopped him and said "Do you realize how much you will mean to that team out there in the next few years?". He humbly just said "I can't wait to play.". That kid is too special to just kick!!!! Kendall and Ziegler may surprise you this year. I don't remember being this excited about frosh football since I played! Go Birds!

No wonder you missed so many calls....You are not supposed to be watching the kid with the ball. That's Milts job!!! LOL....Not sure what you mean about players on the Red team not being Showcased. What exactly does that mean? If you remember correctly the Red team started the season with 26 kids and ended with 15. 9-7th graders and 6-8th graders. We went through 3 QB's throughout the year and ran just about every play under the Sun and average roughly 24 points a game. 24 ppg is pretty hard to do considering the rules that have to be followed. Curious to who you think is going to make a bigger impact on this year's Frosh team that played for Red last year that wasn't "Showcased". Must of been something we overlooked....

LOL on the ref comment. In my opinion RED won with mirrors last year as they had a MASH unit. A strong coaching effort indeed. Tough age to coach who wouldn't like a slim New but maturity hits at different times. I beg to differ that last year RED actually performed quite well. I am looking forward to watching that group as well. All is right in the world as football has started!!

On another note I ran into Bo Hebel at the lock up and he blocked the sun. Welsch and Bo played a little golf and are all smiles about playing some defense! I love that side of the ball

He is the O-line. Big day tomorrow as the Baby Birds begin transition into two a days and the pads go on. Should be an interesting couple of weeks to see how things shake out. From what I am hearing, there is quite a bit of two platooning going on right now which should prove real interesting especially if it can work and kids can stay fresh by only playing one side of the ball.

I had heard that Coach was gonna try to 2- platoon with such a strong class, but when the pads go on the injuries / walking wounded increase.

Not that you overlooked, but had such a wealth of talent at that position. Ziegler is going to be phenominal but at year's end last year he was going to NCC from what I was told. Glad he changed his mind. Trust me, I meant no disrespect to the coaching staff of the red team.

Obviously there are people much closer following this class than me but the two platoon might work with a deep class and numbers if the boys stay injury free. LN likes those high IQ technique guys, I like to pin my ears back and lay the wood. A successful team needs both to me. A few boys are going to have a tough time making a decision on what side of the ball IMO as frosh.

I hear you, but don't worry about decisions b/c the players may think they get to choose their position, but they do not...

I hear you lol. If I am an athlete and play a little round ball and play the hot corner, my playground and batting cage time just increased.
If I am told as a youngster play the o-line or else they must be serving j-jones type koolaide. I thought coach Turner was the magic man. I was not part of the rank and file so perhaps I see it differently.

The coaches are nice about it & they do have a way of encouraging the guys to do what's best for the team. They will let them know they are needed in their role etc. Coach Turner is the magic man! Guys line up to play on his line.

Ziegler was indeed not going to NCC. He was going to CCH before his experience in the Junior League. At least that's what someone told me his Grand Daddy said. But who cares, he's at HHS.

    It's not really that hard.
"son, when we practice how many guys are there at your position? How many are ahead of you on the depth chart? How many guys are over there at guard ? I feel like if you were at guard you would compete for a starting position today. Don't you? I really feel like if you were to be one of our starting guards it could really take our offense up a notch and we would be a better team."
Most kids are looking to get on the field. An offer from the coach to move closer to that goal is generally well received. .........when they get home and dad finds out.....
