From an outsider looking in, it appears to me (and has for a long time) that both football programs at Highlands and Mason County are in very good hands. The parents and fans should be thankful for the positive situation that their kids, the players, are enjoying. It is encouraging to read the comments in here and in the article in the newspaper that mcpapa linked. Absolutely love the attitude you express, ChiefSmoke, and it is refreshing because we definitely see a lot of the opposite these days. The scoreboard is secondary, I wish I would have been there last night.

I didn't see a boxscore. Did I hear correctly that McCoy passed/ran for 7 TDs?

I appreciate the kind words about our players, staff, and program.

As I said several times through the week, we were going to Highlands to play a HS football game on a Friday night. We were not landing on the beaches at Normandy. Of course we don't want to lose but I also know that several if not all of our players came away from that game with some positive memories and a positive experience.

I hope he doesn't mind me sharing this publicly, but my son who plays for us talked to me after the game about what a great experience it was to play in that stadium, playing Highlands, the environment before and during the game, the challenge, the speed/pace of the game, etc.

Again, thank you for the positive words. A great example of why I support the Guru and his efforts in running a first class forum.

If there's a classier coach in the Commonwealth of Kentucky in any sport than David Buchannan, I've yet to meet them. Top notch guy.

JV Birds had alot of broken coverage in the defensive secondary today. O line looked good, good pass blocking and nice onside kick recovery by the kicker. Couldnt tell if the recievers were running poor routes or if the passes were just that far off. Either way there is room for improvement.

McCoy was 33/44 400 yards and 6 TDs. He had 456 yards coming into the game.

I like this quote by Coach Buchanan after last night's game:

“Sure, I'd love to have a better record, but the record is by definition the past,” Buchanan said. “I think we've got a good football team, we're looking forward, and you can slice it however you want, we're 1-4, or we're 0-0 in the district. What matters is what we're gonna do from here, and I'm excited about that.”

A lot of respect for Buchanon I'd let my kid play for him.

This is gospel truth. Nobody cares more about student athletes and high school football. Great Guy.
