Our Eastern Kentucky Power Rankings are Sponsored by Lake Cumberland Sports

LakeCumberlandSports.com is an internet broadcast and media company out of Somerset, KY founded by four guys who love High School Sports and love broadcasting! When local radio decided to opt out of airing High School Sports; We decided to jump in. In 2016, we worked with an out of state company and did well. Starting in 2017, we decided to do this all by ourselves and we have been in Overdrive ever since.

We have been named the Official Broadcast Partners for both Southwestern and Pulaski County High Schools. We will be doing Football, Basketball (Boys and Girls), as well as Baseball, and Softball in the spring. We may even sneak in some other sports as well.

We can be found at LakeCumberlandSports.com and on Tune-In. All games will be archived throughout the season, so if someone misses a game we will have them covered.

If you would like to advertise with us we can be reached by email at sales@lakecumberlandsports.com

15. 4A Knox Central Panthers (1-0)- The Panthers survived a scare vs. 5A Letcher Central. Things get much tougher with 2A's #1 Danville up next.

14. 4A Greenup County Musketeers (1-0)- After a Week 0 blowout Greenup squares up rival Russell.

13. 3A Russell Red Devils (0-0)- Russell will try to open their season with a win, but Greenup County would love nothing more than to avenge prior season's narrow losses.

12. 5A Harlan County Black Bears (1-0)- Perhaps the most surprising score of Week 0 in EKY was the Black Bears putting an old fashioned beat down on 4A Ashland. They now focus on another mild upset against 1A Runner-Up Hazard.

11. 4A Rockcastle County Rockets (0-0)- The Rockets had some scrimmage fisticuffs but now put the pads on and take on an improved Lincoln County team.

10. 5A Whitley County Colonels (0-1)- The bad news? Whitley took an "L" to rival Corbin to open the year. The good news? The Colonels defense looked sensational and they have a chance for a solid bounce back win against 2A Leslie County.

9. 1A Paintsville Tigers (1-0)- Paintsville made short work of 3A Estill County and now drop down to picking on people their own size with the Harlan Green Dragons up next.

8. 5A North Laurel Jaguars (1-0)- Despite South Laurel's off-season optimism the Cardinals were no match for their cross town rivals. North Laurel couldn't have asked for a better break out of the gate and should be able to continue their momentum against 2A Prestonsburg.

7. 1A Hazard Bulldogs (0-0)- Hazard will welcome back the sensational RB Corey Smith after a limited Summer. They will need all hands on deck against a physical Harlan County squad in their season opener.

6. 5A Southwestern Warriors (1-0)- The Warriors looked sharp in a 41-6 win over Northwest High making the long trek from Clarksville. Southwestern will see a similar type of foe against Dunbar next.

5. 5A Pulaski County Maroons (1-0)- Jeffersonville, IN always has athletes, but Pulaski showed the cupboard was from bare in a blowout win. With Wayne County up next we now get to see if Pulaski has legit title hopes or a long ways to go.

4. 4A Wayne County Cardinals (1-0)- It took a Quarter for Wayne to get their wheels spinning against Woodford County, but once they got going they were impossible to slow down. Pulaski has given Wayne fits in year's past, a win this weekend would have the Cards flying high.

3. 3A Corbin Redhounds (1-0)- Corbin got mixed reviews for their quality win over 5A Whitley County. The Offense wasn't exactly what fans hoped to see, but the Defense was superb. Corbin now welcomes one of the Volunteer State's blue-bloods.

2. 3A Belfry Pirates (0-0)- Belfry put in good work in their second scrimmage but will throw their new starters directly in the fire with an excellent Huntington, WV team coming into the Pike County Bowl.

1. 4A Johnson Central Golden Eagles (0-0)- Johnson Central looked sharp destroying a Canadian foe in a scrimmage. They won't be in Canada anymore this week as Capital, WV is big, strong, and fast and a worthy season opener for the 4A Champs.

Three Teams Who Stumbled:
4A Ashland Tomcats (0-1)- Ashland struggled in nearly every aspect against Harlan County.

3A Lawrence County Bulldogs (0-1)- Lawrence County had a lot to look forward to, but in the end couldn't get over the Raceland hump despite the more veteran team.

2A Somerset Briarjumpers (0-1)- After letting a lead slip away in the 2nd Half to 4A Bourbon County the Jumpers face a critical game with a brutal schedule looming in the future.

Three Teams Who Surprised:
1A Raceland Rams (1-0)- Despite the youth at the skill spots, Raceland looked like they were still a 1A team to contend with defeating 3A Lawrence County

1A Pikeville Panthers (1-0)- Claims of Pikeville's demise were certainly premature. Panthers blew out 2A Semi-Finalist Covington Holy Cross, but a supremely tough LCA comes in next.

3A Knott Central Patriots (1-0)- With coaching turmoil aside, the Pats got a nice win over a 1A Lynn Camp expected to be much improved.

Player of the Week:
RB Preston Tucker, Casey County

Tucker rushed for 110 yards and scored 3 times on the ground, he also added 4 catches for 66 yards and 2 TD's through the air in Casey County's 50-7 blowout of 5A Adair County

Game of the Week:

#5 Pulaski County @ #4 Wayne County
It's a battle for early season supremacy in Southern Kentucky. Both teams would love nothing more to make a statement and validate their their title hopes.
