    David Jones resigns at Phelps

David Jones stepped down today as the Head Coach at Phelps.

Jones has done a very admirable job in turning the Phelps program around and will no doubt be a hot name for some of the open jobs at larger programs in the State.

The rumors are that he may be looking for a step-up in program size and talent pool.

Of course but with any job you find the new one first and then quit the old one unless there is more to the story.

If he doesn't already have another job lined up, that seems pretty strange to me.

Even if he doesnt have one, he will get one. No doubt in my mind. He had Phelps winning games and that wasnt something that happen year in and out.

Heard a lot of talk of him going to Bourbon County.

One of the tougher areas to coach in thats for sure. With all of the consolidation that has taken place in Pike Co. since the 90's all those 1A county schools have disappeared except for Phelps (it was too far away from any of the others to combine)

Good luck to him in finding a new coaching job & good luck to Phelps in finding someone that is willing to come to Phelps to coach (unless they already have someone on staff that wants it)

I would be shocked if he isn't named the next head coach at Bourbon County.
