That was a total brain-fart on me. I mixed the varsity team's 15-0 and freshman team's 9-1 records. 9-1 is correct, like Bluesport said.

Don't get me wrong, I certainly hope that they do, but after losing quarterback AJ Mayer, defensive back/receiver Malachi Pike, linebacker/tight end Kam Butler, linebacker/fullback grant Dyer (among others) we are going to have a lot of very important roles to replace. We relied heavily on all of those players, with all but AJ getting significant playing time on both sides of the ball for the last 2 or 3 years, so it will be a tall order to find suitable replacements for all of those jobs.

Fortunately, we have a depth of talent and are very well coached, but the fact is, we just won't be replacing all of that talent - much of it D1 caliber talent - with the same level of talent.
You and I are on the same page on this.

Coach Eviston did something I thought was interesting last year for a big school. He sort of did an in your face to platooning. Instead of platooning, he took his top notch talented players and played them both ways. So three of those four D1 players you list played both ways (AJ being the exception). What that means for this year's team is you aren't just losing 4 D1 players - you are losing seven D1 starting positions. That is the point I keep thinking about. Replacing that is a challenge for any team. Plus CCH loses a shutdown CB in Schneider, another very talented 2 way player in Lenihan and 2 way starter Jack Maile. If people think all that talent on arguably the best CCH team ever is easily replaced, they are kidding themselves.

Nobody close to the program will compare last year’s team to this year’s version. But as stated by someone else, they have a ton of integral players back with another season under their belt. They also have a really good soon to be Junior class who helped the JV team route everyone not named Trinity.

And I left out one thing...this team is LOADED. It may take them a few games but they will be really good.

That brings us back to this year's team. Yes, they will not be as talented as last year. However, you are right - they will have some top end talent. Eviston surely will do the stars play two ways again which means CCH has a minimum of 4 starting positions manned by D1 players (Coldiron, Mayer). Add McGuinness who is probably going to at least end up at a Morehead level D1 program. A couple of the linemen will probably end up D1. So yes there is a boatload of talent coming back. We should put the 2017 team in the past and focus on comparing the 2018 talent to other teams. CCH is certainly the leader right now even if it isn't as clear as last year.

I am curious to see if Eddie gets creative on how he uses Mayer, McGinness, and Coldiron.

A good start to adding Trinity H S to the varsity schedule is adding the Trinity J V and freshmen football teams to the schedule for several straight years, then add Trinity to
The varsity schedule. This could have the makings of a good rivalry game.

McGinness already has an offer from Butler I believe.

Reusch will be a top 3 or 4 qb in NKY.

I think after losing Schneider and Pike in the defensive backfield, there's a good chance we'll be seeing some of McGinness back there this season. Who knows...maybe even some of Reusch.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but Trinity has reached out to CCH about scheduling them in the future. Just for the record.
