Page 3 of Has Covcath gone back to a power offense this season, or are they still running that "Chuck and Duck" offense that guy brought over from Ohio... 41 comments | 1453 Views | Go to page 1 →

I think they may be a bit over-rated, but since no one has played a game yet that playing field is fairly level.

CovCath plays a brutal schedule, and will undoubtedly pile up more losses than many of their peers in "AAA." However, they will still be a hand-ful for everyone when the playoffs hit.

Unless there is some new high school rule that allows a team to keep players who have graduated from high school, I must say that I'm not sure of the relevance of the above statement.

They are always overrated. I want an offense that can run between the tackles as well as pass. The Qb running every other play is not exactly a passing offense. The Qb last year was basically a running back who when pressured dumped off passes or ran. I still believe it was a "chuck and duck" offense. It kept the Covcath defense of the field way too long and led to defensive breakdowns. I don't think you win state titles with strictly a shotgun formation and a QB who runs around haphazardly.

I know he graduated, Im saying early on Cov Cath will get by. But when the schedule gets tougher they will miss Ellisons leadership that he provided for the team. What I saw in the scrimmage against Ryle they do not have a leader on OFFENSE.

Normally people wait until after the games with Cincy X, Elder, and Watterson to say CovCath is overrated.

I think the leader was on the field . He was just alittle nervous , 1st game as starting "V" QB ! And later on when the schedule gets tougher , the D for other teams will not be able to keep 9 players up in the box to stop the run ! This years QB is well ARMED and will spread the field BIG TIME ! Buckley should run wild this year with them staying back on the pass ! The leaders name is Bleser !

I'm not sure how close you are to the locker room, but I am under the impression that they have great leadership, from multiple-year starters Bovard, Kater, Sutton, ect. I'm sure that Blesser will fit in, and this talented class of seniors will lead these players to a fine season.

Cov Cath will be a contender again this year. Let's be honest here! Who knows if they will win it all but they should be one of the top tier teams in 3A again. As for their offense... I thought it was pretty darn good! The Lex Cath game sticks out in my mind too. If you look at the Lex Cath defense at the end of the year it was pretty tough vs Highlands + Bowling Green.
New coach means it takes awhile to work the kinks of the offense out. The kids are learning the system and the coaches are learning the pieces of the puzzle and how to use them. I look for Cov Cath to have a solid offense as long as their coach stays around.

Does one consider 25.6 points per game, 156 rush yards per game, and 140 pass yards per game to be a "lack of success"?

And BTW, the last 2 stats did not include the last 2 games including the huge offensive output against LC in the region semis.
