Page 2 of Just saw the below on the school website. I did not see a thread on this already - if so sorry. Regardless - Congrats to Blake! Covington Catholic junior QB Blake Bir is among the area football players listed on the U.S. Army All-American Bowl combine roster, which will be featured during the bowl week in early January in San Antonio. Bir, who is 6 feet 2 and 185 pounds, threw for 2,482 yards and 28 touchdowns this past season as a junior. He rushed 50 times for 240 yards and a... 46 comments | 5503 Views | Go to page 1 →

It is open to the public, but the numbers are not shared with anyone during the event. They dont displayed them on the scoreboard for all to see. They are recorded and shared with the player when they recieve their combine report card at the end of the event.
Why attend? Because like I said there are probably 100 plus video cameras some live feed rolling in the upper deck of that place. Scouts and colleges are looking for more then just the 40 time. Dont get me wrong the 40 is probably the most important and the most overrated imo number any athlete can obtain. Add it in with size and ability and you would be surprised how many 1 day college camps a kid will get invited to. And even then, unless you are a legit 4.4 I would avoid running it at all costs.
FWIW, I was shocked at how many athletes at the Army combine and several other 1 day camps I attended with my son that the kids just dont know how to run the 40 yd dash, the pro shuttle and long jump. They are incredible athletes with raw talent, size and speed but a kid with lesser intangibles can match or beat their numbers with proper training.
All of these measurements can be taught by those in the know and for most kids on the bubble or looking to improve I would seek out somebody like a Cliff Marshall of Ignition and learn the techniques before testing out. JMO, trust me it works.

One thing I love about BB is his consistent accuracy with the football. Kid throws darts.

Good to hear. Besides getting the ball in the hands of Dressman often who else will catch passes?

Update from Jody Demling on Blake's recruiting:

Another in-state QB getting college looks
Posted on June 13, 2012 by Jody Demling
The Class of 2013 in the state of Kentucky has a bunch of top-notch football quarterbacks getting looks from college coaches.

Several have offers already and some – like Covington Catholic quarterback Blake Bir – are still looking for their first offer.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Bir had a solid junior season and said the recruiting process is beginning to pick up some as the summer gets here.

Bir said the most interest is coming from Princeton, Cornell, Brown, Holy Cross and Georgetown. He’s attending camps at all of those schools in the next few weeks.

He has already attended a camp at Western Kentucky and has a few other schools, including several in the MAC, that are showing a bit of interest.

“The five I listed (and where he will camp) are the most likely,” Bir said.

As a sophomore, Bir passed for 2,285 yards and 22 touchdowns and followed that up with 2,429 yards and 28 touchdowns as a junior.

Best of luck to him in landing some offers. He is a pinpoint passer with great vision.

Blake must be as strong in the library as he is on the gridiron.

It would be hard to pass up such a golden opportunity.
