NewCath has to come out on fire for two reasons. The most obvious is that they need to get Mayfield out of their comfort zone. Make the QB beat you. From what I've read on here, their passing game is based on play action passing. However, if you can't run, the defense has no reason to respect the fake. NewCath's offense has a lot of weapons, and they need to use all of them. The second reason is that in the past two championship games, nerves have gotten the better of the Breds for the first half. Dropped TD passes, false starts, things of that nature. If they can score inside of their opening script, I think that it will do wonders for their confidence. Saying that, if NewCath scores in their first 15 plays, I say they win by 10 pts. If they don't, it will be anybody's game.

Kind of get the feeling that Mayfield is a little like the Steelers in that they will pound the ball with the running game and then really, really pound it if they get a lead so it would be prudent for NCC to not fall behind early.
One by-product of the no-huddle offense is if you don't pick up some first downs it can really effect your defense as they have to spend a lot of time on the field.

Actually, mexitucky play action is good for Mayfield, but I would say that 60% of the passes Shelton will through will be just 5 to 7 step drops. Mayfield doesn't pass much but Shelton is good enough that play action and just regular drop backs have worked well. Should be a great game and this one could be a shootout or a defensive stalmate....just depends! I say turnovers and whoever has a botched play still is the key especially if it rains!
With rain in the forecast---I'll take the Cards by a score 23-16!!!
Safe travels to all and....good luck to both!!!

Written proof that as many have suggested, everyone at NewCath is related.
