Class 5A State Semi-Finals: Covington Catholic at Pulaski County

The CovCath train just keeps rolling down the tracks. The Colonels (13-0) look as strong as ever after stomping out Highlands via running clock, 36-0.

Pulaski County (11-2) consolidated their superiority over Southwestern this season with another tight, one score win over the Warriors. At this point, the field at Pulaski likely resembles the mud pit at a monster truck rally. That should give the Maroons at least some sort of advantage, having played in that slop in recent weeks. But will home field advantage be enough to slow down the freight train coming south from NKY?

Don't underestimate the impact of that field.

I think Cov Cath is and should be a heavy favorite...their adjustment to the field will determine how this one goes.

It is a muddy mess and has been for weeks.
Late in the year it's always a mudhole.

Lake Cumberland Sports, on Facebook, has tonight's game. Fast forward into the game just a few minutes and you'll see. Go to the end and see how it looked at the end.

How does a program like Pulaski have a field like this?

Running clock early no way Pulaski can play with Cov Cath. Very well coached talented team.

Poor drainage is partly to blame. They also let it go (and possibly helped it along) over the last couple years in an attempt to force the school board to get them turf. Spoiler, they didn't.

Unless I'm mistaken, this will only be Cov Cath's second game this season playing on grass. They played 1-1/2 quarters at Cooper on August 31st when the game was suspended due to lightning and continued the next morning at Covington Catholic on turf.

KHSAA should make them play at an alternative site IMO.
Field should be deemed to dangerous to play!

    That's a stretch.
