Class 3A Championship: #1 Bell County vs. #3 Belfry Predictions/Updates
It'll be an all mountain affair in Lexington as Belfry and Bell County clash for the state championship of 3A. This game will convene two of Kentucky's wise, old masters for the first time in nineteen years. Dudley Hilton owns a 4-2 head to head advantage over Philip Haywood, but the latter holds the edge in state titles, 6-3. They are the two winningest coaches in state history.
Two of 3A's best backfields will be featured on the turf at Kroger Field. Bell County relies on the duo of London Stephney and Brandon Baker, while Belfry prefers the three pronged attack of Peyton Hensley, Ben Bentley, and Isaac Dixon to do its damage.
Can the Bobcats claw their way to the program's third state championship, or will the Pirates make Bell County walk the plank and claim title #7?AdvertisementLast edited by DevilMayCare; Nov 29, 19 at 10:49 PM. Reason: Minor change to the head to head record

Nov 29, 19, 10:45 PM #2Minor correction, Haywood got a win over Hilton when he was at Bourbon County in the Pike County Bowl if I recall in 2000 making it 4-2.

This game should be over early I just don’t think Bell has it in them to compete on this level they haven’t had a close game and have not been tested due to weak scheduling. Not the players fault but rather a poor coaching job when it comes to scheduling something you wouldn’t think a coach of Hilton stature would do. He is considered an elite coach and you know the regular season is supposed to be filled with road blocks and hurdles that your team must bond together and face adversity in order to over come if you want to win and be prepared for anything when the title is on the line and since they didn’t do that i don’t think Bell has trailed at any point all season I could be wrong but we don’t know how they will respond. Hopefully it’s a better game then I think but I believe Belfry rolls.

Nov 30, 19, 04:23 PM #7This game feels like the Somerset vs. Breathitt County matchup. I have a hard time seeing a way for Bell County to stay in the game and have a chance at winning.

Nov 30, 19, 04:28 PM #8Bell did play competitive teams though in their defense.
With that said, Belfry played two teams still going for Championships and another (LCA) that very well could have been with a break going their way.
I like Belfry in this one but I would have liked it a lot more in Round 3 or 4 before Bell got to acclimate to competition a little.

Dec 3, 19, 02:11 PM #9I am not impressed with the schedule Bell County has played and Belfry appears to be peaking at the right time. Assuming the Pirates don't have any type of letdown after the huge, emotional win over DeSales last week I feel pretty confident Belfry comes away with another State Championship.
