I think O-Cath will be able to throw the ball effectively enough on Russell to get the W.

Some nice Russell v. Newport game pictures for anyone interested

If Russell gets pressure on Ocaths QB he will have a long day.

The problem is noone has been able to get consistent pressure on him. Fort Campbell probably had the most success but they only got to him a few times and a couple of those he managed to get free and once threw a TD another ran for one.

I have a feeling they will be after him all night. I hope they can catch him and sack him.

Being from Eastern Kentucky, I believe the correct spelling is "Thar".

    Just trying to help.

PS - Devil 58 - are you coming down on Friday?

Someone may have posted an exact number, but can anyone answer exactly how many players that Russell has going both ways?

I hope they can do that...That is the one thing that has disappointed me this year, especially in the post season...We haven't pressured the QB enough IMO...I believe that is the reason we have "appeared" to struggle against the pass at times this year...The db's can only be expected to cover for so long...We are athletic enough to cover man to man in my opinion...We HAVE TO try some things this week to try & disrupt their QB...I have all the confidence in the world in Coach Morris...I feel certain he will put together a great package for the Aces...They will be the best team we have faced all year...

Someone asked earlier about how Russell's backfield compares to Belfry's last year...Russell's is very good...Belfry's was great...2A will rarely have a team with a backfield duo as good as Howard & Jones were...You may have one "stud" back but rarely 2 in the same backfield...Russell has a "stud" in Clark, 6'0'' 190 lbs...Brown is very good at QB....He isn't very big but he's quick and has a strong, accurate arm...Edwards is a strong rb with good speed...He hits the hole quick & is hard to bring down...You can't arm tackle him...The rest of the backs, Lewis, Jones, Beekman, etc. are all quick and capable...That's the thing that about Russell year in and year out...They always have several interchangable backs to compliment a feature back or QB...There's never a weak link in the backfield...You have to respect them all...Clark and Brown have been the ones who get most of the press but Edwards, Horn(injured), Potter(injured), Lewis, & Jones have all had 100 yard games this year and Beekman has had a few long runs as well...It ain't pretty but it's been effective for the last 30 years!!

We just hope we're able to hang around for awhile in this game and not get blown out by OCath's high powered offense...

Sorry Guys - my emotions got the best of me!

Concerning my previous post - Top Ten Reasons O.C. Does Not Win 2A-

I have gotten so sick of listening to people make comments about how one team wants it more, or one is more physical, how we are not as good because we do not have Zach barnard, etc......
I used a post of pure sarcasm - just to vent a little!
Every point on that list is a negative comment I have heard about Catholic at some point this year - except the recruiting - that was just a shot at prop 20.
I probably should not have included "Russell" in any of it - but it was nothing negative - just used their name because it is the next (last) opponent.
The post was supposed to be a humorous one, especially for O.C. fans, similar to one of "David Letterman's" top ten list, sorry if I offended anyone.
BTW, there is nothing that I would like to see more this weekend than a double-overtime, wire-to-wire, grind it out ball game. A game, that when finished, leaves kids from both schools knowing that they gave it all, and left it all on the field. A game that has 20 cracked helmets, yet no injuries other than scratches and bruises, and a game that's outcome is determined by the effort and the play of these High school kids, and not some hideous call by a referee. Good Luck to both teams!!!!
    Go Aces!!

By the way - regarding the last comment about war - I realize that we have many friends and soldiers fighting in Iraq and around the world - this was certainly not a shot at them -I was just implying that players cannot be conditioned in 1 week - and I am not implying that Russell is not - just using the fact that many of Russell's players go both ways and very few teams have been condtioned well enough to hang with the Aces in a 4 qtr game.

I understand your frustration, jman69, but to be honest I've seen very few disparaging comments made about Owensboro Catholic's football team on this board at any time this season. It does seem that a select, yet vocal, group of the team's supporters exaggerate the amount of "criticism" the Aces receive here.
