Class 1A Playoffs #8 Louisville Holy Cross vs. #9 Bethlehem Predictions/Updates

Who wins this district championship matchup? Bethlehem won the first meeting between these two at home 31-28. Louisville Holy Cross will host this one as the #1 seed after this district was decided in the point system after a 3 way tie for first place. Does Bethlehem get its second win over Louisville Holy Cross? Or Does Louisville Holy Cross get revenge and keep marching on?

I like Bethlehem in this one. They just defeated what most considered the 2nd best team in Class A at the beginning of the season. Ryan Mattingly is playing really well right now and I think Holy Cross is just to 1 dimensional offensively.

Sticking with my theme of revenge from regular season, HC pulls out narrow victory.

    Nice post.

Can the Cougars control the ball with their ground game and limit Mattingly's possessions? That is this game in a nutshell.

Its worth noting Holy Cross also beat Campbellsville. The factor in each of those wins was was Corley was either out or well below 100%. With a healthy Corley, Campbellsville could very well still be consider near the top of the class( I personally and respectfully disagree with that). Anyway, if Holy Cross pounds the rock and sustains drives they win. I also like the fact Holy Cross is at home. Lets not forget at seasons end Coach Bronger is retiring. I feel confident the Cougars will have a little extra in the tank.

That is going to be the difference. I think if Bethlehem can get 2 or 3 stops early and build a 2 or 3 score lead Holy Cross will then be forced to do things they do not want to do, such as throw the football. If Bethlehem can not get couple stops early and Holy Cross controls time of possession then Bethlehem may be in trouble.
