Was just coming to post this myself. Took a long time to make the call on this one, considering how long ago we were hearing Sander's name mentioned and we're being told he had been interviewed.

So...is he the right hire for the position?

There is a wealth talent on that team. I believe the question will be how effective he will be at building a staff. They have to get away from parental effluence over the coaching decisions and playing time. There has been a history of dads coaching as volunteer coaches. Mark has some connections with some dads on the BE team also.

It is a tough gig! They need to get out of Sanders way and let him run the program the way he sees fit. The administration will have to be supportive and have the coaches back. I am sure he will have a philosophical change from the past and that has not always been accepted by the old BE guard!

I think it is a fantastic hire!

Really good hire. Mark is a good coach and friend. We have squared off several times over years. It was always a tough game against his teams. He will have BE rolling before long. Good luck coach and Chargers.

I believe they waited to announce until Iroquois hired their coach, which they did yesterday. He was afraid it would effect that position, from what I can gather.

There is a lot of young talent in the area, but Sander will have to prove that the culture will change and that East is the best school for these players. It will be very interesting to see the coaching staff he puts together. I believe he is the right fit, but there will be lots of eyes on Coach Sander the next few weeks.

Seems as if it could a very tough sell to some of the current players to replace some of the coaches. The staff could be the key.

I got a chance to see the new Bullitt East team under Coach Sander run through some offense last night. It appears that they have scrapped the veer. They were throwing the ball all over the field. They really had a couple of long receivers and a really quick looking back coming out the back field. Not sure about the players names, but it really did look different. The receivers and the back appeared to have better speed than i have seen at BE before. Granted, from a team that ran smash mouth veer football any speed would be better than what they appeared to have in the past.
