1999 Bullitt East 4 seed vs. Southwestern 1 seed. 1st round of the playoffs.
Bullitt East 19 Southwestern 15, in one of the best football games I have ever witnessed. Bullitt East did come in as a 4, but lets look a little closer. The only reason being, that you previously mentioned a 4 seed rarely beats a 1 seed.

That season B.E. had 2 or 3 starters that were suspended for a couple of district football games that led to defeats. Maybe they would have lost those games anyway but most people who knew what was going on would say that the suspensions were a factor. Maybe some Bullitt East folks could tell us for sure what may have happened. Had it not been for that situation the SW vs. BE game would have probably been for the Regional Champ.

Bullitt East went on to win the Region Championship against a Lincoln Co. Team that SW handled pretty easily during the regular season. Again I realize that if; "if's and but's were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas."

No one is more dissapointed that SW has been knocked out of the playoffs, but a wise man once said, "unless you win in Louisville in December, the season ends the same for every team." I am not saying that to try and sugar coat anything, but it is High School football and while yes, you play to compete and hopefully win a championship, there are very few people who can say they played in a state championship contest, or better yet won a state title.

I admire all those who coach HS sports because they do it for very little money. It is their dedication and desire to see young people develope into young adults, that coaches a very special breed.

You will be hard pressed to find a more hard working coach than Dale Anderson. He does not need me to defend him, but I am going to say a couple of things on his behalf.

Yes, several Warriors have gone on to play football at the next level and that is due to the fact that Coach A and his staff work hard to make sure their kids get recognized by the colleges looking for football players. Not many coaches put that kind of time and effort into seeing that their kids get the opportunity to play after high school. Besides football players, I have witnessed Coach A help non-football players get into college on scholarships.
I have watched him help kids who play other sports who wanted to play at the college level, get aid and or scholarships, so they could continue their playing careers and get an education.

I can also tell you that when the helmet comes off for the final time, Coach A has always been there for his players. I have watched as kids who played many years ago have come forward for assistance and Dale has done what ever he could to help out. I have seen him answer a phone call only to take off to be with the family of a player that has suffered some sort of crises.

I may be out of line, but I would suggest that if anyone would try to remove Dale Anderson as Head Coach of the Southwestern Warriors they would be in for a battle of "Titanic Proportions." I believe the Warrior Nation would stand behind Coach A if this type of scenario ever developed. I also think there would be several former players and families of those players from outside the Southwestern Program who would defend Coach A. Dale Anderson and his wife have made sacrifice after sacrifice for the players, coaches and families of Southwestern Football. They do so out of love and a passion to see kids become successful members of the community.

I have gone on way too long and do not wish to discuss this topic any further. Dale Anderson and his staff have my support as a proud member of the Warrior Nation. Thank you to Coach A, his beautiful wife, and all those who have made being a part of Southwestern Football a wonderful experience.

    Agree 100% Bucknut!!!

Every Team has some curse they can't shake.
Red sox finally got their curse off, the Bills never did.
In sports it's all about match-ups, who plays the best that night.
The Warriors needed to play their best game to beat BE, and probably played the worse game they could.

The defense kept them in it the 1st qtr, but you can't ask them to do it as often as they had too.
You can't have TO's like SW did against a 11-0 team and win. Just won't happen.

I'll chime in with another to Bucknut. I also know Coach A has helped kids from other schools as well. Hate to see the season end for these kids, but there is always next year.

Why so much hate, Joe? You have something against Coach A? And when did high school sports get about just winning? Evidently, you have missed the boat. Other people besides you have played in successful programs. Do they have the same attitude as you? I would doubt it.

Football teaches you, regardless of winning and losing, that life goes on. Life deals you lemons all of the time. Whether or not you make lemonade out of them is up to you.

You control your destiny by the way you live your life and the way you treat people. That says more about the person than if they won in the second round of the playoffs or they went home to start the next part of their life.

I would have to agree with Bucknut on Coach A. I have personally seen him help some athletes at all of the schools in the county. He doesn't have any kind of allegiance when it comes to furthering an athlete's education. Can you say that?

Okay--I think maybe some of y'all might misunderstand me a little bit. I respect Coach A as a person and even as a coach. I know that he has done a great job of advancing his players and building a solid program. I guess my biggest question is he has for the most part run Trinity's offense with SE Kentucky players. I guess what I'm asking after failing that early in the playoffs with all those division 1 players should he try something different. Again, I meant no disrespect to Dale, I admire what he has done I was just saying that SW has gotten a lot of statewide recognition without a lot of statewide success. I don't think is you read my posts I ever questioned the chartacter of SW's staff and I guess my comment may have been misinterpreted--I never thought that they should get rid of the staff at SW just that maybe it is time to take stock of what you are doing. They say that the best coaches change their philosophy to fit their players--I think it has been the other way at SW. Again, I think Coach A has done a great job to help the kids but should he change a little bit to make SW a true top 10 team?

Again, I respect what Coach A has done but most of the SW fans see themselves as an elite team. The fact is they have done nothing in the playoffs to prove it. Are they a solid team, without a doubt, however look back at your predictions SW fans--if it were up to you the Warriors would be undefeated. I know everyone roots for their team but it seems like you take offense that anyone would ever pick against you. Bucknut said that being in the final 16 out of 50 in class 3A is nothing to be ashamed of--and it isn't. However there is a big step up from there to being a title contender or even a solid top 10 team. The fact is SW is a solid 3A playoff team but nowhere near a title contender--those facts are not up for debate. Again I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with that I'm just saying that SW is a solid 15-20 type team in 3A until they prove otherwise. They're still better than most of the teams in the state.
