Top 15-20 team in KY regardless of class.

There are a short list of teams who consistently can't qualify for those caveats.
    I could see that.

I look for CovCath to have a very explosive offense. Jacob has improved so much and he will have 3 6’5 guys to throw to. Eddie really likes his defense a lot.

Sophomore to junior year is where players usually make their biggest improvement.

A wise coach once told me, "I hate to see a player do really well as a freshman or sophomore, because you normally only get two great years out of a player and I would prefer they start doing really well their junior year".

New top 5 after yesterday’s scrimmages:

    1. Cov Cath
    2. BG
    3. Frederick Douglass
    4. South Warren
    5. Scott County

BG stuck with Male who’s the 6A #2 which surprised me a ton. Per the school twitter account both teams scored 4 TDs in the varsity scrimmage for three quarters.

Until FD proves they can play well together I’m seriously going to doubt them. If they can though, the sky is the limit.

Also, the Scott County score surprised me too. I don’t know how good Central is this year, but regardless SC should be able to beat them.

My opinion hasn’t changed on any of the top 5 being able to win state though, they’re all more than capable.

Does anybody have an idea of what the Ballard at Highlands score was? I was told no score was kept, but Ballard scored a lot.

Despite how bad FD looked last night plus the Scott County loss, I would caution against being too reactionary following scrimmages. In regards to FD, maybe Trinity is just that good this year. And maybe Scott County tried to focus more on refining its passing game and didn't go with its bread and butter as much as it might have if this were a regular season game. That's just speculation on my part, though.

I'm content to leave the order of 5A alone. We'll get the chance to see this all unfold for real soon enough.

You’re right, I didn’t watch the games so I have no clue how exactly the teams played. But in regards for FD and seeing someone say they were dancing on the field down by 30+, I just don’t think they’ll be as great as people think unless they can set their egos aside and play for each other.

Anyways, we’ll learn more about all of these teams in a couple of weeks!

I agree with you here. Even as they were getting pasted last night, the talent on that roster is evident. It's easy to see why so many people are intoxicated with their potential. But talent alone won't get it done in a class this loaded.

Trinity is good. Really good. There aren’t too many teams in the state that will be able to move the ball against them.

I believe (I most certainly could be wrong) the Scott Co/Central score is pretty close to their past scrimmages. I don’t think Scott Co has ever just run all over them or the like. Scott Co has always done a very good job of managing the players workload going into week one.

With so much of a focus on Fredrick Douglas, Scott Co and Cov Cath there has been very little information about Bowling Green. I think if Fredrick Douglas and Scott Co had not dropped a class we would of heard much more talk about Bowling Green.

Normally i’d Know more about them than I do. The starting QB from what I’ve seen is a kid named Connor Cooper, he plays basketball and is extremely athletic. They did well in the 7 on 7 they played in, beating Brentwood Academy among others. If it’s true that they played Male 28-28 in yesterday’s scrimmage then I believe they may be much better than some people think. I’m iffy on their O-line but, all of our questions should be answered in the coming weeks. Especially with their rough schedule.

Highlands 14-13 over Ballard (one half of live game action). First half was controlled scrimmage 8 plays each, and JV action. Both teams should have a nice year.
