It would appear our rankings staff has its stuff together in ranking Class 1A. The only change this week is the Campbellsville dropping to #7 this week after losing in a big way to Class 2A #5 Danville. Paris takes over the #6 spot after drubbing Bracken County last week. There are 4 teams that have byes this week, so big wins or losses should prove to make next week’s rankings debates interesting.

This week was an easy one for our Class 2A rankings staff. There are no changes in the top ten from last week. DeSales continues its reign at #1 after trouncing 6A North Hardin 41-7. Mayfield’s inter-class win over #6 Murray keeps them at #2. This week’s matchup of #3 Christian Academy-Louisville and DeSales promises to be a great one. Christian Academy-Louisville also beat a 6A team last week in Meade County. Another interesting matchup this week is #7 Newport Central Catholic at Holy Cross (Covington). Questions about both teams should be answered Friday night.

Boyle County keeps the #1 spot in in Class 3A. Central replaces Belfry at #2 after the Pirates lose big on the road in West Virginia. The Belfry loss, to one of, if not the best team in West Virginia, drops them to #3. Russell, last week’s #8, drops out of the top ten after a loss to Fleming County that no one saw coming. Adair County enters this week at #10 after a huge in over Edmonson County. Central continues to be getting better as the season progresses, but can they replace Boyle County as the consensus #1?

The debate continues as to whether Johnson Central or South Warren deserves the #1 spot in Class 4A. For this week, Johnson Central retains the #1 spot. Franklin County drops from #4 last week to #8 this week after losing to Collins last week. Collins slides into the the #10 spot on the strength of their 23-0 win. Scott, Spencer County, Shelby County and Hopkinsville all move up one spot this week, and John Hardin hangs onto #9. How close are Johnson Central and South Warren? What does South Warren have to do to usurp Johnson Central?

The only loss in Class 5A this week was #6 Christian County to #3 Owensboro. All other games were decided convincingly. As a result, there are no changes in this week’s 5A top 10. There is debate continuing regarding Highland’s continuing inclusion in the top 10. This week the Bluebirds host Dixie Heights. Could this be the week they’re replaced by one of the teams knocking on the door?

In what should be no surprise, Male continues as our 6A #1 team this week. Trinity is still #2 followed by Scott County at #3 and Simon Kenton at #4. This week could be the week to tell us whether we have Manual and St. Xavier correct as these #5 & #6 teams meet. Bryan Station’s loss to Lafayette last week drops them out of the top ten to be replaced at #7 by Ryle, who blanked George Rogers Clark Last Week. McCracken County moves to #8 this week after beating Ohio County by 49 points last week. Pleasure Ridge Park hangs onto the #9 spot, despite a 44 point loss to #1 Male. Cooper enters into the rankings at #10.
