Beau Buchanan, Bowling Green (5-0, ranked #2 in 5A)

Week 4: 19 of 34 for 202 yards with 2 TDs and 2 ints. in a 50-6 win over Warren Central

Season to date: 100 of 172 for 1,187 yards with 6 TDs and 4 int.

Stock: DOWN

At the halfway point of the season, Buchanan's stock hasn't budged either way… until now. Against an overmatched opponent like Warren Central, you'd expect a top QB to keep a cleaner sheet than that. His season has not yet taken flight like most thought it would.

Mid-Season - Beau Buchanan highlights - Hudl

Joey Cambron, Daviess County (3-2, unranked in 6A)

Week 4: 31 of 50 for 276 yards with a TD and 2 ints. in a 42-14 loss to Owensboro

Season to date: 104 of 173 for 1,128 with 11 TDs and 9 ints.

Stock: DOWN

Ditto for Cambron. His senior season hasn't measured up to his junior campaign on any level. And the Owensboro game was a potential stock raising opportunity that instead went in the other direction.

Gavin Spurrier, South Warren (5-0, ranked #3 in 5A)

Week 4: 8 of 10 for 127 yards and 5 TDs in a 41-7 win over Grayson County

Season to date: 51 of 67 for 817 yards and 15 TDs with 1 int.

Stock: UP

Spurrier continues to play at a very high level. When only three of your completions didn't go for touchdowns, you've had yourself quite a game. Thus far, SW hasn't really been put in the position where Spurrier's arm had to win the game for them. That might change down the road.

Grayson County High School - Gavin Spurrier highlights - Hudl

Braxton Ratliff, Ashland (5-0, ranked #3 in 4A)

Week 4: 6 of 14 for 69 yards and an int. ; 14 rushes for 43 yards in a 14-7 win over Ironton

Season to date: 41 of 74 for 829 yards and 9 TDs with 3 ints. ; 46 rushes for 406 yards and 4 TDs

Stock: DOWN

Rival Ironton's defense stifled Ratliff's arm and legs in a disappointing performance by the Tomcats’ offense. Given Ashland's start to the season and their recent offensive outbursts versus the Fighting Tigers, this was unexpected.

Jaden Stinson, Mayfield (5-0, ranked #2 in 2A)

Week 4: 11 of 15 for 256 yards and 4 TDs in a 56-21 win over Graves County

Season to date: 60 of 96 for 1,266 yards and 17 TDs with 0 ints.

Stock: UP

Stinson might be putting together one of the finest seasons for a Mayfield quarterback in school history. Which is really saying something, because guys like Landon Arnett and Jake Guhy had some phenomenal years in a Cardinal uniform.

5 games into junior year - Jayden Stinson highlights - Hudl

Chase Estep, Corbin (4-0, ranked #2 in 3A)

Week 4: The Redhounds had a bye. Mayfield and fellow watchlist member Stinson await in a clash of heavyweights.

Cameron Jones, Frederick Douglass (5-0, ranked #3 in 6A)

Week 4: 21 of 27 for 421 yards with 3 TDs in a 42-7 win over Madison Central

Season to date: 76 of 97 for 1,446 yards with 17 TDs and 3 ints.

Stock : UP

The Broncos’ ascension to the upper echelon on 6A has been expedited by the addition of Jones. Only two more stat padding games separate FD from its measuring stick, Scott County.

Cam Jones Mid Seasaon - Cameron Jones (BIG CAM) highlights - Hudl

Wiley Cain, Pulaski County (3-2, unranked in 5A)

Week 4: 28 of 36 for 320 yards with 4 TDs and 1 int. in a 34-28 win over Allen County-Scottsville

Season to date: 117 of 183 for 1,505 yards with 14 TDs and 4 ints.

Stock: UP

Cain can sling it with the best of them, and he's got one of the best WRs in the state to throw to. The Cain-to-Sloan connection has been nearly impossible to stop this year.

Allen County High - Wiley Cain highlights - Hudl

Running Backs

Wandale Robinson, Western Hills (3-1, unranked in 3A)

Week 4: 22 rushes for 242 yards and 3 TDs ; 2 catches for 27 yards and a TD in a 41-23 win over Frankfort

Season to date: 71 rushes for 813 yards and 9 TDs ; 6 catches for 223 yards and 4 TDs ; 1 punt return TD

Stock: UP

Someone needs to check Wandale's birth records because I'm starting to think he might be from another planet. Krypton, maybe? For his latest superhuman feat, I present to you his punt return touchdown vs. Frankfort last Friday (it's the first play from the Hudl video below).

Casey McGinness, Covington Catholic (5-0, ranked #1 in 5A)

Week 4: 12 rushes for 195 yards and 3 TDs ; 4 catches for 70 yards and a TD in a 49-14 win over Beechwood

Season to date: 60 carries for 784 yards and 13 TDs ; 10 catches for 190 yards and a 3 TDs

Stock: UP

McGinness had, arguably, his best game to date against small school titan Beechwood. He ranks 2nd in the entire state in yards per carry (13.1) for players with at least 50 rushing attempts.

Tre’ Bass, Franklin Simpson (4-1, ranked #2 in 4A)

Week 4: 16 rushes for 144 yards and a TD in a 17-14 win over Meade County

Season to date: 59 carries for 664 yards and 9 TDs

Stock: <>

Bass has found the endzone at least once in eight straight games and the Wildcats lead 4A in rushing at 332 yards per game. Franklin-Simpson faces one if its stiffest challenges of the season this Friday versus 2A #5 Glasgow.

Aidan Robbins, Manual (3-1, ranked #8 in 6A)

Week 4: 23 carries for 42 yards and a TD in a 21-20 win over Ballard

Season to date: 72 rushes for 319 yards and 7 TDs

Stock: DOWN

Either he runs behind a very suspect offensive line, or everybody Manual faces puts ten in the box to stop him. He didn't even average a full 2 ypc last week and is only averaging 4.4 on the season. Robbins needs to feast on Seneca this week to stay alive with Butler, St. X, and Male coming up in the back half of the season.

Jayden Neace, Perry County Central (4-0, unranked in 5A)

Week 4: The Commodores had a bye week. They face Letcher County Central this week, a team that Neace lit up last year for 264 yards and 4 TDs.

Kent Trey Matthews, Mayfield (5-0, ranked #2 in 2A)

Week 4: 11 carries for 75 yards and a TD in a 56-21 win over Graves County

Season to date: 90 rushes for 752 yards and 9 TDs

Stock: <>

Matthews was again overshadowed by his QB. He faces a daunting task this Friday - a Corbin run defense that ranks among the best in the state, surrendering 63 yards per game.

Anthony Adkins, Larue County (3-2, unranked in 3A)

Week 4: 19 carries for 209 yards and 3 TDs in a 45-18 win over Hart County

Season to date: 65 rushes for 700 yards and 9 TDs ; 2 catches for 51 yards and a TD ; 1 kickoff return TD

Stock: UP

A huge game last Friday keeps Adkins on the list for another week.

Landan Swartz, Bath County (3-1, unranked in 3A)

Week 4: 16 rushes for 217 yards and 4 TDs in a 47-30 win over Estill County

Season to date: 110 rushes for 771 yards and 11 TDs

Stock: UP

Swartz did his best “Secretariat at the Belmont” impression on a 99 yard touchdown run versus Estill County. He burst through the line of scrimmage and ran away from everyone, moving “like a tremendous machine”. By the time he reached midfield, there was no one else in the picture besides an official who was trying admirably to keep pace.

Joe Jackson, Johnson Central (4-1, ranked #1 in 4A)

Week 4: 17 rushes for 146 yards in a 49-21 win over Moore

Season to date: 76 rushes for 547 yards and 6 TDs

Stock: UP

Jackson, the centerpiece of Jim Matney’s rushing machine, is starting to heat up. He fell just shy of 200 yards two games ago, and churned out some hard yards against a solid Moore squad. He's got some stat padding games coming up before Ashland and Belfry come calling.

Wide Receivers

Demontae Crumes, Butler (4-1, ranked #6 in 6A)

Week 4: 4 catches for 74 yards and 2 TDs in a 62-13 win over Doss

Season to date: 15 catches for 418 yards and 7 TDs

Stock: <>

Crumes’ highlights this week included a beautiful diving catch at the goal line for, what else?... a long touchdown reception.

http://www.hudl.com/v/2AQMkc

Marquel Tinsley, Daviess County (3-2, unranked in 6A)

Week 4: 10 catches for 95 yards and a TD in a 42-14 loss to Owensboro

Season to date: 32 catches for 459 yards and 6 TDs

Stock: <>

Tinsley is pretty much in the same boat as his quarterback. His production is down some from last year. And though he made his presence felt against Owensboro, the blowout loss to the Red Devils isn't a good look.

Linemen

Bryan Hudson, Scott County (5-0, ranked #2 in 6A)

Week 4: The Cardinals ran for 146 yards on 33 carries in a 37-7 loss to LaSalle

Stock: DOWN

Back to back wins over GCL South teams proved too tall a mountain to climb. LaSalle held Scott County to nearly 200 yards below its rushing averaging coming in.

Jacob Lacey, South Warren (5-0, ranked #3 in 5A)

Week 4: 6 tackles (1 TFL) in a 41-7 win over Grayson County

Season to date: 19 tackles (6 TFL) ; 2 sacks ; 1 forced fumble

Stock: <>

The Spartans defense did its usual thing, holding previously unbeaten Grayson County to just 62 yards of offense.

http://www.hudl.com/v/2AQATF

Tanner Bowles, Glasgow (5-0, ranked #5 in 2A)

Week 4: The Scotties rushed for 406 yards and 6 TDs in a 56-40 win over Warren East

Stock: UP

The Scotties’ running game has shifted up a gear the last two weeks, averaging nearly 400 yards per game. A marquee game versus Franklin-Simpson is next on the docket.

Athletes

Milton Wright, Christian Academy of Louisville (5-0, ranked #3 in 2A)

Week 4: 8 catches for 97 yards ; rushing TD in a 31-0 win over Newport Central Catholic

Season to date: 22 catches for 323 yards and 3 TDs ; 134 yards rushing and 3 TDs ; 23 tackles ; kick return TD

Stock: <>

Wright's 8 receptions versus NewCath were a career high. The fact that the Centurions have looked this good through the 1st half of the season without Wright putting up gaudy numbers should be of some concern to the rest of 2A.

http://www.hudl.com/v/2AQHGs

Logan Castleman, Beechwood (2-2, ranked #1 in 1A)

Week 4: 11 carries for 2 yards ; 4 catches for 11 yards in 49-14 loss to Covington Catholic

Season to date: 39 carries for 273 yards and 4 TDs

Stock: DOWN

Beechwood looked like it meant business on its opening drive versus CovCath. But the Tigers, and Castleman in particular, were smothered the rest of the night. After back to backs versus Corbin and CovCath, an easy night against Covington Holy Cross might be just what the doctor ordered for Castleman and Co.

Drew Sawyers, Southwestern (5-0, ranked #5 in 5A)

Week 4: 124 yards passing and 2 TDs ; 80 yard punt return TD in a 48-15 win over Madison Southern

Season to date: 479 yards passing and 4 TDs ; 377 yards rushing and 3 TDs ; 1 interception ; 4 kick return TDs

Stock: <>

At some point, teams are going to have to stop kicking the ball to this young man. His punt return score versus Mad South marks his third consecutive game taking a kickoff/punt to the house. He has four such returns on the year.
