Lets talk about how these two match up. We all saw them last year and it was a great game between two very good teams.

Both teams lost a LOT of talent from the year before. When that happens, and you have to replace the kind of talent they both lost, sometimes it forces you to change things about the way you do business. Does either team have a new M.O. because of the difference in personnel?
I know both teams run the same basic offenses and defenses. These guys have won nearly 550 games combined, why change? But what do they do differently? Are they more apt to throw then before? Have they made any changes to their D? etc.
Tell the fans what to expect.
I haven't been to Russell's Evans Stadium in a long time. It will be good to come up there and battle it out again and I'm looking forward to it. No better way to spend Turkey Week than getting ready for the semifinals.
LRCW, I thought you had fell out of your rocking chair and bumped your head.Advertisement

Nov 19, 05, 08:13 AM #18I don't think either team has changed their M.O.
The way it looks is that Belfry still runs the ball and then runs it some more. Russell will do the same but they do have decent passing game if a defense sells out to stop the run.
Russell's still runs the same defense. Seven starters back from last years defense. Maybe you could fill us in on the Pirates D.

I would venture to say that the 99.9% of the Russell fans will give you the poll. We cannot beat you on BGP. You are the winner.

Now for the football game. This should be one of those games that we will talk about for years. I know all the Russell fans wanted our team to play the STATE CHAMPS at Henry R. Evans stadium. We got our wish.
Russell wins this one in double overtime.

Nov 19, 05, 12:51 PM #22I think that Belfry will pull out the win. I know, I know, of course I would say that due to being a Pirate fan...but, I think that the Belfry team that we are seeing now, is the Belfry team ready to go back to State.
No one, including myself, thought that Belfry would be as good as they are right now. This team replaced almost all skilled positions and came together fast. I have to say that they are the most composed group of kids I have ever seen. When the momentum starts to swing in the other direction, these kids don't get intimidated. They keep their composure and they do whatever is necessary to get the upper hand back as quickly as possible.
Belfry will play Belfry's game...period. If anyone is basing their opinion on Belfry with the beginning of the season..forget it. Last night was their best game of the year and Coach Haywood will have them ready come Friday.
I honestly haven't seen a game of Russell's all year. I have only read post on them. I know that it will be a good game.
Nov 19, 05, 01:00 PM #23Belfry 34
I think Belfrys got a little too much and they are playing their best football, from what I can tell. Admittedly, I haven't seen anything of Russell since early in the season.
LRCW's post had me thinking my computer was on the fritz, and so was he.
Nov 19, 05, 04:57 PM #24I do believe that the mighty pirates will pull out on top for this game...
If they play like they did against SC then we will have no problems.....
In the news paper today there was a couple of good Quotes :::
"This backfield offers three threats " -- Chapman
"We can hit you at any angle & if one of us is down we can pick up the slack " -- Chapman
Very niice Corey!!
Pirates -- 42
Devils -- 21
GO BIG RED
Nov 19, 05, 05:01 PM #25Belfry will have troubles. Russell has just as many weapons and a more balanced offense.

Best of Luck goes out to both teams... May the better one win.

Nov 19, 05, 05:13 PM #28Keep talkin' Pirates!! I believe that Russell's backfield has had 4 different backs that have led the team in Rushing this year. Tommy Brown, Chad Edwards, Michael Horn, and Kasey Clark. Should be a great one at Henry R. Evans. I don't see any blow outs in this one and Russell could have packed it in last night when the chips were down late. They showed alot of heart and character and they did what they had to do to win. Survive and Advance is the name of the game. I feel like these last two games have only helped them get ready for Belfry. Last years team NEVER TRAILED until 16 seconds to go in the first half at Vipperman Stadium. This years team has fought adversity and won that will only help come Friday Night!

Russell gets revenge from last year in the friendly confines of Henry R. Evans Stadium and wins 31-21!!! The Red Devil faithful proclaim, while clicking their heels, " there's no place like home".

The SC fans seem to think the same as the Devils fans
They were proven wrong...
But I guess we will have to wait til' Friday night to tell...
LET'S GO PIRATES!
