Ashland moves to 8-1, and will travel out of state to play Spring Valley (WV) next weekend. Spring Valley has been in the championship game the last two years. They won two years ago and finished runner-up last year.

Ashland will host Greenup County again in two weeks in the first round of the playoffs.

Spring Valley is also 8-1 on the season. Their only loss was to Cabell Midland 28-21.

Its unfortunate that playing solid out of state teams will hurt Ashlands rpi, win or lose. That said, I hope they keep scheduling them as it helps prepare them for the playoffs.

It's actually three straight title game appearances, but they lost all three to Martinsburg. Really great program over there.

You've got to wonder if Ashland would have scheduled them had they known how the RPI formula would work out. My guess is, if they could go back and do it over again, they would have tried to stay in-state.

My first guess is that they would have scheduled "essentially" the same. There may have been a change or two but i dont believe it would have been anything drastic. I could see them replacing Boyd County with someone else in state before dropping any of the four solid out of state teams.
