A Highlands thread NOT about the coaches

I’m personally very excited about the upcoming season. A ton of talent coming back and hopefully the injury bug from last year won’t carry over. Who are you looking forward to seeing? We all know Cramer, Schwalbach and Hudy will be studs, but who do you think will step up or surprise people.

What I would like to see is Huddy playing both ways. He would be a beast TE. TE is a position that really hasn't been used by the birds in a long time. I am very excited about what is coming back. Defense should be pretty good. I think the kid that will turn some heads out of nowhere will be Salmon at DLine. Sisson (spelling?) will create a vacuum for someone to wreak havoc.

I will take a shot at it 2020.

I am very excited to see what Highlands does this year. Unlike most years CCH is actually the favorite going in but Highlands also figures to have a strong team so I am thinking it is on like Donkey Kong for anyone in the Bluebirds way this year.

Maybe it is already on BGP but does anyone have a schedule for the Birds this year?

Part of me thinks whoever advances between Highlands and CCH will win the State Championship.

Huddy should play both ways but I like him split out where he can be in space. Austin King and Nate Roberts are a couple of big receivers who can line up at TE.

They won't have any burner receivers like Vennaman but they will have some surehanded kids who have experience, plenty to choose from.

The offensive line is where they need kids to really step up and work hard in the weight room this off-season.

Defensively they played a bunch of sophomores this past season and they return DB's with experience in Armstrong, Greene and Brass. The D Line should be anchored by Sisson on the end as a pass rusher but they could use a plug in the middle. Downard has a knack for getting through offensive lines with quickness, he reminds mw of Cam Dierig from yrs back.

I think team defense and the offensive line are the keys next season. They have to figure out a way to stop giving up big plays and they absolutely have to protect Cramer so he can do his thing.

If we are discussing TEs, why wouldn't Sisson be one? He grew up playing running back, has a great frame and is an athlete.

One thing is certain, let’s stop the TE talk until they use it correctly. I have been clamoring for a TE drag across the middle for years. Give me one that knows how to block too folks. I believe they do have kids that can play that role but will the OC make the transition.

We made a living on the TE dragging across the middle. Hard to stop.

You have to hold the TE at the line of scrimmage.

W/ that cross fire action in the backfield and a boot action as well. Remember it well.

I can't remember the last time HHS made strong use of the TE position. I too would love to see it return.

They need some linemen with size.

Towles Sr. year they started using their TE towards the middle of the season. Great athlete. He had quite a few TDs if I remember correctly. They would have used the kid from Houliston's year if he hadn't injured his knee again. He had something like 4 catches in the 1st half of the Trinity scrimmage and looked like one of the better players on the field.
