6A Notebook (10/1): Mind Boggling
Yet again, Class 6A continues to be wild and puzzling. District play has started and still the same puzzling and mind boggling things have happened. If your wondering what Iím talking about, then I will just get right into it.
The #2 Scott County Cardinals hosted the Henry Clay Blue Devils for a district matchup. Many thought this would be a running clock win for Scott County, but man, were they fooled. Henry Clay would came out and shocked the 6A world with not just a win, but a convincing 51-27 victory. DJ Vanhorn and Raymond Jackson had big games for Henry Clay. DJ Vanhorn threw for 225 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushed for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns.Raymond Jackson had 6 catches for 159 yards and 1 touchdown. The road doesnít get any easier for Scott County. They will travel to Frederick Douglass next and will need a good showing or they will be 1-2 in district play.
Another big time game in 6A was the Trinity vs. Saint Xavier matchup. Seldom does this game take a back seat to a bigger headline, but itís not often you see favorites lose. The classic showdown did not disappoint, with over 18,500 people in attendance. It is also not often you see these teams record 1-5 and 3-2. The first score of the game came just before halftime on a quarterback run by Saint Xavier to go up 7-0. Trinity, lacking a single first down the first half, would tie the game late in the 3rd quarter, 7-7. Saint Xavier answered with a touchdown pass early in the 4th and added another touchdown to go up, 21-7. The Tigers finished with the win, their first against the 'Rocks since 2014.

#10 North Hardin took on #1 Boyle County last week and battled 2A #1 DeSales this week. The Trojans put up over 400 yards of offense, but would be on the short end of the stick in the 27-24 loss. This game was just about as even as a game could be.
