These two teams know one another well as both friends and foes. This Friday they are foes, at least until the clock says it's over.
Cooper, 2-5, is coming off a loss to Ryle that probably sticks in their craw. They will want a win against a cross-county rival. If RB Anthony Witschey does not play more of the offensive production will fall on Sophomore Jeremiah Lee. Boone will also have to find a way to cover the athletic WR Mikey Armour, if indeed that is the role he will have. With wins against NCC and Dixie, Cooper is looking for a third W.
Boone County, also 2-5, comes off tough game against Simon Kenton in which too many of the breaks went against them and the fast pace of the SK offense got away from them. That game left a bad taste in their mouth and they will be looking to mollify their competitive drive with a win against a team that has had the upper hand in recent years. Just as the Boone defense has a challenge in containing Lee and Armour, the Cooper defense has a challenge in stopping the Boone County running attack, which has been respectable this season and after 6 games ranked 4th in 6A rushing offense.
So, who wins this game and what are the keys to victory for each team? As always, please vote in the poll and share your opinion.
