2A Mayfield vs 3A Corbin predictions

Interesting inter-sectional matchup between Corbin and Mayfield. Mayfield is considered either #1 or #2 by most in 2A and are among the state title favorites. Corbin has two losses already, but to good teams in Danville and Southwestern. Who wins?

Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia (Adair County)

It's 88 miles from Corbin to LWC, 235 from Mayfield to LWC.

Kudos to both schools for scheduling a game like this at "Neutral" site!

I think Mayfield wins but I am interested to see how this play out. I think Corbin Mayfield would have been a great game last season.

Question is...can the cards shake the adversity of not having Bright? I think they will. Mayfield by 17

Cards are going to have to experience life without Bright a 2wAy starter. In addition to losing Bright, a superstar running back and DB, we will also be without A starting safety and a LB is a game time decision.

Losing Bright hurts, but, Tyler is a more than capable backup. As far as losing the LB and DB, I think they'll be fine as those are 2 deep positions for the Cards. Unless Corbin can mix a semblance of a passing game to go along with a running game, I like Mayfield's chances. They're very good against the run, but, have been susceptible against good passing teams with taller receivers. The Card secondary is quick, but, not much size. I was impressed with the pressure that the Card D put on Graves Co last week when they tried going to the air. Mathis was pretty much running for his like all night. With Bright out, Arnett will need to be sharp in the passing game. I think he will be.. Mayfield 31 Corbin 10

Kind of tough to gauge how Mayfield will come out for this one. Expecting a win, but...

A... long road trip for a mid-season game
B... Just coming off a game with the cross town rival
C... District championship on the line next week vs Murray
D... A little banged up with the MVP on the shelf for a few weeks.

I could totally see Mayfield coming out flat for this game. Defense should lead the way here, with a couple of late scores sealing it... 27-7.

Even without Bright, Mayfield should be able to win this one by a comfortable margin of 2-3 TD's

Corbin is a borderline Top 10 team in 3A right now and a team that Danville handled easily.
