    2A #4 Mayfield vs. 5A Graves County

Mayfield's (4-0) offense continues to roll, scoring 41, 49, 47, & 49 points in their four games this season. Their latest outburst came at the expense of McCracken County. The Cards offense offset an atypically sloppy performance from the defense to win 49-27.

Graves County (3-1) took down Paducah Tilghman 26-15 on Friday night. The Eagles and Cardinals already have two common opponents on the season. Mayfield defeated Tilghman 47-14 in week 2 and Graves County beat McCracken County 38-22 the same week.

Mayfield owns an 8 game winning streak in the series.

What's the status with Graves QB, Mathis? Is he still out or back playing?

I believe He started last night and threw for 340 yards and 3 touchdowns.....240 of that was to Grant.

Outside of a bad 1st quarter against Caldwell Co, Graves has played some good ball this year.. They probably deserve to be in the Top 10 in 5A at this point of the season.. There backup played well in Mathis's absence, but, Mathis has a lot of games under his belt behind center and is there best player.. His experience and leadership on the field are intangibles that can't be understated.. Sounds like they have a stud WR, as well.. I expect this to be a competitive game and the Cards will have to play better than they did last week, but, I think they'll be fired up for there crosstown rivals and play more like they did the 1st 3 games and if they do, should have enough playmakers to handle what Graves will throw at them.. Cardinal defense will be in the backfield chasing Mathis all night... but he will complete a few passes and the Eagles could score 2-3 TD's before being shut down by the MHS boys after the halftime adjustments. Too many weapons for the Cards and they win pulling away 48-14.

Haven't followed Mayfield at all this year, but can someone explain why they're currently ranked 4th right now? Good luck Cardinals!

Who would you rank them in front of? The top 5 in 2A are really strong.
