True. If Eminence and Jenkins stay independent then will KHSAA drop teams down to make an even 32 in 1A? That's a big question.

If that were the case, at such a low class it would cause a domino effect wouldn't it?

Or will they like to try to sustain success for a few more years before maybe considering that?”

Well if 32 teams per class, CovCath would be the smallest school in 5A. This list has more than 32 in 5A so still in bottom third.
They are not trying to put 32 teams per class. They only try to put 32 teams in 1a and 6a. Classes 2a through 5a always had more than 32 I believe.

Is Grant Cty going to play in the district in this new alignment?

If they do, could Highlands possibly be shut out in the NKY 5A District and be forced to play in 4A? CovCath, Cooper, Conner, Boone and Grant Cty in a district, would they really put 6th team in the district?

Grant should not play in District the first 2 years IMO.

I'm curious if they are requiring teams to opt in or out of district play BEFORE the alignment comes out? It read like they wanted to stop the ease of dropping out and coming back in. If teams did drop out of 1A, however, I'd expect them to just drop two down from 2A and make it 32. with 38 left in 2A.

I think grant county would end up being in the district with South Oldham possibly. If highlands plays in 5a.

My understanding was if 1A teams drop out they will not back fill class A with 2A teams. Also if they are out I believe they are out for 4 years. Can't sit out and then come back in two years.

Thanks for the clarification. I was speculating but had heard nothing official.

To avoid the region of death: DeSales, CAL, & Central all in the opposite district.

I have to think one of those 3 moves up. I have no evidence, no communication of it, but I really doubt that holds up. I assume one will move to 4A with us.

Can you imagine the travel for Taylor Co. to Flatwoods???
It would make more sense to switch out Garrard & Mercer, probably.

I'm curious if Central will make the move?

I wonder if those two spots can be filled by teams that ask to move down though?

I wonder if Ohio petitions to play up again, a district of Ohio, Daviess, Apollo and Meade could be plausible. Meade is 3rd region. 6A out West is a mess, then Mberg, Henderson, McCracken and Marshall. Put Hardin, Bullitt and 1 Louisville school in a district. Let The western teams play each other every year for a true region champion, quit rotating district junk in 6A.
