Mustangs advance to 10th Region semi-finals on the merits of a 3-0 win over George Rogers Clark on Tuesday night at the Sharp Middle School.
The Mustangs got on the board with 13:06 remaining in the first half, when a corner throw-in by Sophomore Tyler Malay resulted in a Bryson Wieland header into the back of the net.
The Mustangs led 1-0 after a half in which the Brossart keeper never touched the ball.
The insurance goal came at the 64:20 mark in the contest, when Joel Clines found Brian Paulin on a set piece as the result of a free kick from about 30 yards out.
The final goal was the result of a Cardinal defender deflecting a Brossart shot off of the keeper, providing our third and final goal of the evening. The Cardinals could manage only two shots on goal in the event.
Brossart, now 10-5-2 advances to face the host Pendleton County Wildcats in the upper bracket semi-finals Thursday night at 6pm.
