Woodford County/Boyle County Predictions (Gateway Holiday Classic Finals)

The Rebels of Boyle County will face the Yellow Jackets of Woodford County in the Finals of the Gateway Holiday Classic at Montgomery County tonight at 7:30pm.

The Rebels enter the game with a record of 7-2 with losses to Bryan Station and Lexington Christian. The Yellow Jackets are 10-2 with losses to GRC and West Jessamine.

The Rebels defeated Worthington-Kilbourne(OH) and Campbell County to make the Gateway Holiday Classic championship game.

The Yellow Jackets defeated Powell County and host Montgomery County to make the Gateway Holiday Classic championship game.

Boyle County is led by sharpshooter Bryce Slone and his 22 points per game average, PG Jason Alexander, Jr aka Baby J and his 16 points per game average. Sophomore Wings Reese Smith and his 12 points per game and Grant Hotchkiss and his 9 points per game. Senior post Will Bramel has returned to the team after fulfilling his football obligations and has made an immediate impact to the team’s success by averaging 10 points and anchoring the post on offense and defense. Jacob Lassiter has been starting in the post and has provided consistency to the team and Caleb Jackson and Carson Thompson both provide depth at the guard position off the bench. Hotchkiss, Smith and Bramel all played football for the 3A state champion Rebels and all three have really rounded into basketball form and should only continue to get better as the season continues.

Woodford County is led by Brandon Cromwell and Nicholas Smith in the scoring department. Both have shown the ability to have big games as Cromwell scored 35 points in a win against Dunbar and Smith scored 29 points in a win against Atherton. Corey George and Anthony Tabor have also proven to be capable scorers as well and have also shown the ability to take on the scoring load if needed. Woodford County has defeated the likes of Dunbar, Anderson County, Franklin County and Frederick Douglass already this season and look to bring home the Gateway Holiday Classic Championship.

Woodford County and Boyle County played each other last season at Woodford County. Woodford County manhandled Boyle County from start to finish in that game as they defended their home court in a 67-46 victory.

I think Boyle County wins this one but I am admittedly biased. I don’t possess the ability to pick against this Boyle County team against anyone. They showed me a lot last night against Campbell County and I know they will only get better. I believe they will come out focused and ready to play from the start of this game and bring home the championship tonight. I love this team and the coaching staff does an outstanding job of getting them ready to play each game. Let’s get it on!!!!!

I'll take the Rebels in this one too. Should be a good game though.

To well coached teams. I like BC in this one by 8 to 10. They have been solid this week and are trending up.

Whoever wins this game will add a quality win to their resume.
