    St. Pat - Young Guys

It’s a good time to be a St Pat fan. They will have growing pains but have some of the top middle schoolers in the state. There will be some growing pains when you play middle schoolers on varsity but I think people will be shocked at how advanced and talented they are.

I keep hearing good things. Give 'em 2 or 3 years and they should be solid.

For a couple of years, I think you are correct. Tough for 13 year-olds to hang with 17 year-olds.

Yes that’s the million dollar question but it looks like they all want to stay and don’t be surprised if there is more young talent coming g in the next few years... everyone is correct about there will be growing pains. It will be tough but you can’t gauged this teams success with wins and losses bc they are so young. My thought is they will compete and maybe upset a couple teams. Within 2 maybe 3 years they will a top team in the region.

I saw St Pat playing in the All A preseason scrimmages. I was shocked to see a bench full of kids, and they played well for their age.

Yes these kids can play... Most play on reputable AAU teams and at least 1 on a nationally ranked top 20 team. They won’t shy from the big stage. They have an excellent leader in Pat Mckay. This new team leads to a 100% culture change... these kids are accustomed to winning. They know how to win and they know what it takes and are willing to do it. It will take take time for their bodies to mature but when they do the 10th should take notice...

Imagine if they had Jake Swolsky to lead the way this year.

This sounds like the scenario that took place at Augusta a few years back, and they DID turn into a major regional contender, losing only to Mason County in the 10th Region finals, so anything is possible.

    Best of luck to 'em.
Look forward to seeing them in in Maysville on January 8th.
