Scott County 64 Covington Catholic 61 (KHSAA Boys Sweet Sixteen® Round 1)

Final Scott County lead by 10-15 most of the game but late in the 4th quarter with Scott Co. leading 60-41 Catholic closed out the game on a 20-4 run with 15 straight to make it very interesting.

Scott County led 57-38 with 2:15 to play & CovCath marched all the way back to cut the lead to 1.

Wow....that must have been a crazy ending. Congrats to the Cards, I expect they and Trinity to meet in the Finals and that should be an awesome game.

Happy for CovCath, people kept looking for ways they wouldn't win the 9th, and the defending state champs earned their way back to Rupp. While it stings to lose, at least they got to defend their Title on the court they won it on.

Best of luck to Scott Co the rest of the way.

Domination by Scott Co. for nearly 31 minutes. CovCath complete domination for last 1+ minutes makes for an almost unbelievable ending. Colonel got to be proud of stoic battle til the end. Billy Hicks probably concerned that Cardinals couldn't close with a 20 point lead under two left.

Covington Catholic scored 37 4th quarter points. They scored 34 points the other 3 quarters combined.

Just a question. Were the starters for SC in the game during that 15 point run? Wasn't there, just asking.

    Almost a repeat of 2014?

Wow! That would have been an awesome comeback story. I am sorry they fell short. Tough to face the #1 team in the state first round. Great game Colonels!

Most were. It seemed as if they assumed the game was over then started playing sloppy and careless.

I believe I heard the radio guy say that the point guard had fouled out, which might help explain the abundance of turnovers in the last minute or so.
