    Open Job: Scott County

With Coach Hicks stepping down, who are the likely candidates to take over the Cardinals program?

    Big shoes...

With the addition of another high school in Scott County (when will this be open) does this make this job as appealing as it used to be.

It’s still going to be a good sized school...facilities, support, etc won’t change any because of the new school. Maybe just a few less players to choose from.

Great Crossing likely won’t affect Scott County’s numbers all that much for the first 2 years as upperclassmen can elect to stay at SCHS. This will be a huge job to fill even with the new school coming and I fully expect a statewide search if not a national one. Scott County Middle School will still feed Scott County High, and they have consistently been the best feeder program of the three middle schools in Scott County. I’m not a Scott County guy, but I hope they hire an established coach that can continue the program’s success. Some names I think would at least entertain the idea of taking over would be Coy Zerhusen of Oldham County, Aric Russell of Campbell County, and Brandon Salsman of LexCath.

As I posted in another thread, I don't expect this job to be officially posted or officially open for a while. Don't look for it to be posted anytime soon.

He could be holding off so that one of his assistants can get the job if he wants to pick his successor.

Hard to do that when he has announced he is retiring.

I believe what he said was he was 99% done but that would be a decision he would make with a fishing pole in his hand.

I also saw that after he made the 99% comment, he followed by saying it was his last game.

I'm really having trouble understanding this. One says he's done, one says he going fishing, I'm totally confused.

Let’s see if they open it up and have a true search. Much respect to Coach Hicks for his accomplishments

What is considered a true search? If they have someone in mind, they should just give it to that person. You don't have to even open it up for a supplemental position.

A true search meaning . Yes if they already have so one in mind that is not a search. It is there choice to hire who ever they choose. A true search meaning are they opening it up to really find the best coach that they posssible can find. Was not disrespecting anyone or their process.
