Default Newport Central Catholic 59 Covington Catholic 41

Final from The Bank of Kentucky Center.

As for the NewCath bonus situation in the first half, it was signaled to the referees, but I guess that didn't see it.

Refs had nothing to do with this one. Bad match-up, better players.

NCC had too much size and strength. Schulte was a beast tonight.

New Cath's size was way too much for the Blue Colonels. Not much to say but the better team won tonight.

This is probably the worst matchup for the Jags. New Cath bigs should neutralize the big guy from Cooper. If Collins shoots like tonight, though, they will stay with them.

Newcath was impressive tonight. Someone please tell the Cov Cath fan that sat behind me that fouls do not have to come out equal between the teams. He must have yelled "the fouls are 6 to 1" about 20 times in the 3rd quarter. If your team fouls more than the other the fouls will not come out even.

CovCath was lucky that the could were that close. They realized that they had to pressure out front and got away w a lot of reaching and grabbing that gets called up here. Once the ball got inside, they were in trouble.

There seemed to be a lot of amateurs at the games tonight. They not only didn't know the rules, but didn't even know any of the players on the floor, their grades, or backgrounds.

The 9th Region really needs to publish a program.

It was not handled well all the way around.

The officials messed it up by not recognizing that the table told them it was a bonus. However, once it was obvious to the table that officials were having the teams line up for a throw-in they should have been on the buzzer letting the officials KNOW it was a bonus.

Once it was recognized the officials did handle it properly from a rule standpoint. Fans were yelling to put time back on but the rule does not allow for that. However, they put the wrong kid on the line. Schulte was the one fouled on the rebound but Ryan went to the line.

It's hard for NCC to foul when CCH can't get open inside and , therefore, shoot jumpers.

I think I'm not liking this whole switching referees to different regions thing.
    Nice seeing you tonight Mustang.

It wasn't a great night by the crew but it wasn't a factor.

The good news is that CCH shot 50% over the last two games.

The bad news is it was 20% against Holmes and 30% tonight.

    UGLY.

They got the right guy. Ryan was definitely the one that was fouled. It was Seibert and Ryan on the fast break, Schulte wasn't even in the play. I was sitting right there and it was a good call.

My mind says it was on a rebound that Schulte went up for on a missed NC shot.

They did get the right guy. I was sitting there and they sent the right guy to the line. They really did mess up the bonus, though. Called the foul threw it in immediately, didn't even look at the scorer when making the signal to him..

I heard a lot of people raving about how well Cooper played against Dixie. I wasn't there...came for the NewCath-CovCath game, but I think Grant will have NCC prepared for Cooper. Again, I think NewCath is one of the more balanced teams in the region if they are hitting on all cylinders. Beuter needs to find his shot again and if that happens, they will be tough to beat.

Can one of the stat guys verify the score? It was 59-40 when the buzzer sounded and then I looked up and it changed to 41, wasn't sure if that was when the scoreboard pad was unplugged or what. KHSAA has the score as 59-40.
