Unfortunately, theirs was one of the two games at Beechwood HS and we were not there. I got the score from KHSAA scoreboard.
Our game was at Villa Madonna.
The Thoroughbreds move on to play Beechwood in Semifinal Number Two on Friday at Beechwood HS. Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm.

Strangest play I've ever seen happened in this game.
First sequence NCC had the ball, Brady Hightchew drives the lane, fouled, ball goes in, and 1.
Shoots the free throw, misses, NCC rebounds, and puts it back in. Ref blows the whistle and explains that this was a 2 shot foul? Basket didn't count.
So it was a shooting foul, that the shot went in, but the basket didn't count and two shots were awarded.
Can ANYONE explain this one?

Mental error on the officials part. He probably didn't make the foul call and didn't realize it wad an andone situation. But the official that called it should have stepped in to clarify. I guess or maybe They all don't know What They are doing. LOL

During the next time out the three refs huddled in front of me and discussed what happened. The ref stated 'he missed the ball going into the basket' and awarded the player 2 free throws. The scoreboard still reflected 0 - 0 at that time of the first free throw. When the ref reported the foul to the scorers table, he never indicated the basket was good and therefore the points were never put up.
Once the mistake was noticed after the missed free throw and put back, in my opinion, what should have happened was: the refs should have met, determined that the basket in fact should have counted, given NCC 2 points for that part. Since the free throw was missed, at that point it should have been a dead ball and based on the alternating possession the ball should have been inbounded by the team based with the aarow and the score NCC 2 Lloyd 0.
You couldn't allow NCC who got the rebound and put back to keep those points since Lloyd (which I'm sure they weren't but could argue) didn't attempt to rebound since the ref said 2 shots.
Just my thought on how it should have been handled.
If the play was called correctly as an and one, NCC would have received the original basket (2 points), the put back (2 points) and I believe McDonald was fouled on the put back (don't know if the ref would have called it or not but it looked like he got fouled) with McDonald at the free throw line shooting one. So, NCC could have been up 5 - 0 on the trip down the court.

Agreed. Although Lloyd had no one to match his size, strength and ability last night it was nice to see him get out and run up and down the court and be active. Glad to see he is back to feeling better after battling through the Cov Cath game sick and sitting out the Campbell County game. Hopefully, he gets back to scoring his 20+ points a game like he was earlier in the season.
Anyone have his rebounding stats? I would like to know how many offensive rebounds and total rebounds he had last night.

Unfortunate. No excuse for 1 of the other 2 to stop play when they see the administering official say "2 shots."

Surely Grant asked an official why the basket that went in didn't count, right? He's not known to be shy with officials.

Unbelievable that all 3 refs didn't see the ball go in. I have two questions. One, if your not following the ball as a ref, what are you looking at? And two, there is an official scorer that the refs could ask if the ball went in. Why wasn't the scorers table consulted if all three truley didn't see it go in?

The NCC coach did question the call but the officials would not back off their call. I saw this happen years ago where neither ref saw the ball go in. They went to the scorers table for confirmation. I have no idea why they did not do that. I thought that the official scorer was a "game official". Either way there is no excuse for one of the trail officials to not watch the ball.
