I thought some were saying that a list would be narrowed to 5?

And I should revise my comments to say the best "senior". Tandy is the best player in region 2 in my opinion.

You think "videogate" should knock him out of the running?

I think he was a long shot before the video. It makes it even longer for him IMO.

The announcement was just who made the finalists list from each region.

    Do you mean this:

2018 Region Players of the Year per the KABC

If you go watch Detorrian Ware for Christian County, you know you're seeing something special. He casually can get 30-50 in a game and it looks so natural to him. Colleges are starting to catch on and he's seen an uptick in interest over the last two months.

I think being in WKY and not having preseason hype has hurt him, but he has set so many records at Christian County high school, a school with a rich basketball history.

Kerry Stovall said he's the most athletic player he's ever coached, and that's a man that coached Anthony Hickey and Keith Tandy.

Somebody please confirm...Are there 18 nominees and then 5 finalist? Or are all 18 players finalist? What group or who is responsible for voting/selecting the ultimate winner?

I ask because Kunkel and Fredrick from the 9th region are both deserving of some consideration. Fredrick seems to be more likely the pick, but having a co player from the 9th region could hurt his chances depending on how voting is done.

I would take a look at this:

2018 Region Players of the Year per the KABC

Maybe that "organization" considers the 19 players finalist for Mr. Basketball but I don't think their list means anything as far as Mr. Basketball is concerned.

There has been only 2 Mr. Basketball winners from the 9th region and honestly I think it stays that way for this year.

Ware from Christian County is amazing. I think he is definitely one of the top seniors/players in the state.
