Clark splits doubleheader with Montgomery County

Montgomery County led 49-40 with less than two minutes remaining but Clark connected on a pair of threes and four field goals for the final margin. Cody Parsley made 5 of 8 free throws down the stretch to help the Indians hold off the Cards.

“I just thought they played a little bit better tonight,” Clark coach Scott Humphrey said. “Credit to them, their coaching staff and players. They played an excellent game and the better team won tonight.”

Humphrey said his team “just struggled to score” and made just 20 of 55 shots from the field and made just four field goals down the stretch, all coming in the final two minutes.

“We couldn't get anything at all going inside,” Humphrey said.
Damion King led the Cards with 18 points, including nine in the fourth quarter. King scored all but three of Clark's field goals in the final eight minutes and sank a trey as time expired for the final margin.

The Cards led 14-10 going into the second quarter and increased the margin to 18-12 on a Jerryd Jones bucket to open the quarter, but the Indians went on a 12-2 run, turning the six-point deficit into a 24-20 advantage with a minute left in the half.

A 3-pointer by Clark's Jordan Menchen at the buzzer pulled the Cardinals to within 24-23 at the break. Menchen made two of Clark's three shots from long range in the opening half.
