    Why didn't Fitzgerald play?

Ejected at Estill County last weekend. Serving the suspension.

Since the format began of alternating the region tourn between Lincoln and Pulaski the Maroons have won 1 Regional title and Lincoln won 2 I believe. Only 1 title has been won on a teams home court. It's just not as big of an advantage as people make it out to be.

It is interesting watching a team like Pulaski without Fitzgerald. The 1st time we played them it didn't seem like they had much scoring outside of Fitzgerald. They had several guys last night show some offensive potential but they just don't get the opportunity when Fitzgerald is playing. Same thing with Mercer people have said they don't have scoring outside of Trevon. There just aren't as many shots/scoring opportunities for other players when you have players of this caliber. If Mercer would have moved the ball as good in the 2nd half as they did in the 1st half this would have been a 15 point win. 2nd half Mercer had more 1 on 1 drives that were highly contested. In the 1st half Mercer broke the defense down and kicked for wide open 3's.

Playing Pulaski in the tournament at home is a disadvantage for whomever they play. It's a one game setting, and anyone playing at home is an advantage for them. If it is remotely possible every team should have a chance to play a tournament on their home court.

Solid win for Mercer County, even if Fitz wasn't playing. This Mercer County team is starting to hit stride. They are winning the close games against solid competition. They are currently riding a 10 game win streak.

While it wasn't at Pulaski, lets not forget that Mercer County did beat Pulaski County in December with Fitzgerald playing.

It's not logistically...some schools just don't have a big enough facility or parking to handle a Region Tourney. Some regions have a facility available that isn't anyone's home court and I guess that is an ideal situation...the 12th doesn't have that.

I have seen 12th region tourney games at casey, SW Pulaski, Danville and mcreary central. It used to rotate between all schools.

It did, but that was only a one-rotation (10 year) deal. A majority of the schools prefer it at Lincoln and Pulaski (truth be told, most don't want the headaches that come with hosting). I was also present at a meeting when it was proposed to go back to a rotation and someone affiliated with Mercer County said something to the effect of "nobody wants to go all the way to McCreary Central for the region," at which point someone from McCreary (who originally seemed okay with rotating) said "nobody wants to go to Mercer," at which point it was decided to keep it as is. I've often wondered what might have changed had the Mercer representative not said that.
