Mason County is currently renovating the Fieldhouse and installing a new playing floor. If the old floor could talk it might say something like this. Since 1965 over the last 49 years, I have been home to one of the most successful basketball teams in the state of Kentucky. I have hosted 1508 Mason games in which 1074 were wins for a percentage of 71.2. I have had some of the best Coaches in the state roam my sideline. I was the home to the Lady Royals until 1992 when the girls moved to Earle D. Jones court. I have hosted many High school games with several different teams including Burley Belt, MCIT, Showcases and Classics. I have saw the GlobeTrotters, Cincinnati Reds basketball team and All Star Games. I hosted 41 Districts in which Mason won 27 of them. I have seen some of the greatest Regional Tournament games ever played in the 45 tournaments plus four Girls Regional tournaments. Twelve different schools have celebrated championships on me including Mason (12), Clark & Harrison (7), Maysville (4), Pendleton & Fleming (3), Montgomery, Bath & Bourbon (2) and Paris, Bishop and Campbell once. The first win was against Ripley, OH. on Jan. 15, 1965 and the last win by Mason was Feb. 8, 2013 against Harrison. My first loss was to Bourbon on Feb. 19, 1965 and last lost was to Augusta on Feb. 19, 2013. The last game was 2013 Regional final with Montgomery defeating Scott. I hope you have enjoyed these incredible events as much as I have bringing them to you. I want to thank all of the fans from acoss the States who have come to watch the entertainment that I have provided. Ther is no place better to watch a Basketball game anywhere that the Fieldhouse. Good luck to the new floor and I promise many more memories to come. See you at the games!!!!!
