Russell plays for the Nets not Lakers.
He was EYBL champion with E1T1, first team All American in high school, nice one year at Ohio State and a top 5 NBA draft pick. I think he did pretty well.

I've never seen the young man play but have heard great things about him. Is he good enough to compete on that national stage? What position does he play? Also I'm wondering if this means that Johnson might be on his way somewhere else.

Brooklyn Nets. Starting PG. Averaged 15.5 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists. Still has a lot to learn, still questions about his work ethic, still mediocre on defense, still a great passer but tends to make the dangerous pass too many times. His knees are a concern also. Shows a ton of promise and potential. Only 21-22 years old. Streaky shooter but certainly capable of shooting an above average percentage from three. Crafty. As @HammerTime says he is the Dollar General version of James Harden. D’Angelo has the potential to become an All Star if he puts in the work. At worst he should have a long career in the NBA. How good he becomes is up to him.

Not sure anyone has answered your question and I thought the exact same thing you did. Kid is going to get his scholarship based on his play in EYBL or Gauntlet. Sure, Monteverde is the hot name right now, but this kid is a known commodity already. It's awesome that he can get to do this and that a school like Monteverde considers him good enough to join. But, if we all agree that his offers come from the summer league circuit, then compare school ball to school ball here. Did anyone see that overly hyped ESPN "national championship" tourney that Monteverde won? The atmosphere was awful. And Monteverde (no suprise) does not play in the Florida High School state tourney. Now, compare that to a possible Mr. Kentucky Basketball and Sweet 16 Championship. You will be forever remembered as school ball legend. I know which one I would pick, but I am from a different generation.
