Inside the 14th Region - Week 8
1.Perry County Central (16-5):
The Commodores are one if not the hottest team in EKY right now and at the right time as the season winds down. The Commodores have won 7 straight and 8 of their last 10 games, 6 of those 8 wins, have been by double digits. One thing is for sure, if the Commodores can keep this up, they’ll cruise through the 14th.
2.Knott County Central (13-7):
The Patriots hit a hard place their at the end of December / beginning-middle of January where they had lost 4 of their 5 games in that stretch, since them, the Patriots have won 3 straight including a big 78-67 win over 15th region powerhouse, Johnson Central. Knott Central also picked up another big win on Saturday night when they defeated Campbell County Tennessee 76-74.
After starting the season off 3-5, the Lions have won 7 straight including a big road win at district foe Knott Central. During that stretch of 7 games, the Lions have outscored their opponents 473-315 and have blistered some of their opponents. One thing is for sure, Cordia knows what it takes to win region and if they continue playing this well, a Perry Central vs. Cordia region championship game would be a barn burner.
4.Letcher County Central (12-6):
Since winning 4 straight and 3 straight games earlier in the year on separate occasions, Letcher Central has not been able to put more than 2 wins together. The Cougars have also been bit by the injury bug with some of their guards.
5.Powell County (15-5):
The Pirates have won 4 straight games and have took a commanding 4-0 lead in district play. The Pirates went to Perry Central and even tho they lost, they played right with Commodores, only losing by 13.
6.Leslie County (14-4):
The Eagles are hot, having won 4 straight and 7 of their last 8 games including a big victory over district foe, Buckhorn. The Eagles have a big game coming up on Jan. 31st when they face off against #1 Perry Central.
After winning 9 straight games, the Wildcats have lost 3 of their last 5 games. 2 of those losses have came from within region and district play,.
8.Estill County (12-6):
The Engineers picked up two wins last week, defeating Menifee County 61-55 and Lee County 81-37 but fell hard to the Cougars of Letcher Central 71-48. Can the Engineers re-group and get back on the right track or will they fail to win 20 games this season?
The Bulldogs rallied for 5 straight wins to run their record to 7-4 but have since lost 4 of their last 6 games. Hazard did pick up another big win over Breathitt County for the second time this season, defeating the Bobcats 79-75 on the Bobcats home floor.
10.Breathitt County (11-9):
Breathitt County is 4-2 since the new year rang in and both of those losses were less than 5 points. Breathitt County has 3 big games this week vs. Buckhorn, @ Wolfe and vs. Montgomery county in the KY Prep Showcase.
11.Wolfe County (10-10):
The Wolves had won 5 straight before losing 3 straight before finally picking up another win, defeating Owsley County 76-35. Deven Stone led the Wolves with 30 including 6/10 from 3.

13.Lee County (5-13):
The Bobcats have countered their 3 game wins streak with a 3 game losing streak.
14.Owsley County (2-16):
Owsley County continues to struggle putting wins in the win column.
Jenkins or JBS will get their second win tomorrow night when these two face off.
