Hopkinsville adds game against Findlay Prep

    Per @chrisjung Twitter

BIG hoops news: Hopkinsville has added a game against nationally-renowned program @FindlayPrep (NV) in February. Exact date/location TBD.

Findlay Prep is currently ranked No. 2 in the @maxPreps national poll and No. 4 in @USATODAYsports Super 25. Great opportunity for Hoptown.

Coach Haworth definitely seeks out a tough schedule, you gotta give him that much.

I'm still not clear on KHSAA rules. I always thought this kind of game was not allowed.

I wouldn't see why not. KY teams play out of state teams all the time. I can't see why this would be any different.

Because Findlay Prep is not sanctioned with the Nevada HSAA, thus KY by rule are not allowed to play them or such teams.

I'm pretty sure this rule was changed in the past year to allow these type of games. At least that's what I've been told.

You are correct. It was passed at the annual meeting this past September.

Ah that makes sense. I must have missed that.

So, Kentucky teams can play any school now? Theoretically, Boyle County could play against Oak Hill if they wanted to?

Which is good. I never understood the reasoning behind the law in the first place.

Yes, but they typically play each other in Marshall County's gym. Marshall County normally plays teams from Illinois or Tennessee in that event.
