Hazard vs. Perry County Central

Do these two teams still not play each other during the regular season? If so, what is the reason?

Not that I know of. 'MasterOfHardwood' or someone else can shed better light on that subject though.

The Hazard Board of Eduacation voted this year to suspend the competition between the two schools starting next year (Fall 2009).

Always a lot of love in the building when these two get together ...

IMO this will hurt Mountain Basketball. This is one of the best rivals and taking it away with the addition of all the shift in districts are hurting rivalries. Most big rivalries bring big crowds and media attention because it seems to mean just a little more than just a seasonal game. I also understand that kids sometimes get out of hand but nothing that didn't happen years in the past.

This statement hit the proverbial nail right on the head.

It has been done for next year by order of the Hazard Board of Education to not play Basketball or Football. The Perry County Board went a step further and said that if they don't want to play in those two sports, they will not play them in anything. Perry/Hazard games will be a thing from the past for a while until the parents can grow up and start acting like civilized human beings. It's ridiculous that the parents are screwing up a good thing for these kids. This is one of the best rivalrys in the mountains if not the state and for the adults to be messing it up is awful. Just because the big wigs have their problems don't mean they have to throw their weight around and do something like this.

I think PCC will win, but Hazard will get revenge in the Regional final.

Hazard by 15 tonight!!!
