    Actually there is just 9 active coaches with 500 wins. J.D.Strange of Pineville resigned early this season.

    Very good question and I'm not going to attempt to answer it, as I'm really not sure there is a correct respond without knowing a ton of details. However, I will say that a lot of coaches as well as folks in all walks of life sometimes hang on to long.

    If you have 500 wins, but have been coaching for 40 years, that’s 12.5 wins per year.... is that a great coach? Agree with the post above. Some hang on too long. Being a great coach is situational, and numbers don’t always tell the tale.
