Will Philpot scored on his own putback with less than a second left in the game to give the comeback win to the Varsity Cards in the City of Middletown Holiday Classic held at Eastern High School.by a score of 60-58 over North Oldham.

The Varsity Cards play the tournament hosts, Eastern High School, tomorrow at 4PM.

The Varsity Cards trailed by as many as 12 in the first half before making a strong second half run.

Sounds like a good win for them. Best of luck tomorrow.

What is wrong with Varsity Clark? North Oldham was 5-5 and it took a comeback and score at the buzzer to win. They should have blew this team out.

This was certainly a solid game for North, despite the loss.

For Clark, I'm not so certain that there was any shame in the narrow win. North Oldham is like a number of teams across the state - a team that started slow due to lack of experience, but which is starting to play well now as the team gels and the newer players learn their roles.

North has size, shooters, and a player in Justin Rose who is a regional Player of the Year caliber player.

I think this result is more a validation that Rob Burton is beginning to get the Mustangs in gear more than it is an indictment that GRC isn't as good as advertised. The Cardinals are good and have proven it; this just may be an eye opener that North is better than most thought.

Wish I had seen the game! From the above, it sounds like this was a great HS ballgame!

Yes he did. You can always depend on him to step up to the plate when the game is on the line. Great young man on and off the court.

Agree with you on all points, especially the bolded. I respect your input as you are very knowledgeable on the teams in your area. I knew this would not be a blowout by any means. I too wish I could have seen this game.
