Frankfort High School Boy's Job Open

Heard from several sources that Matthew Yates has resigned as Head Basketball Coach at Frankfort High. Has anyone else heard anything? If true, who would be the front runners to fill the position with less that 2 weeks left before school starts?

I hear they are interested in luring Nick Barton back from Franklin County! That would be an outstanding hire, Frankfort High Alum who has a passion for the school!!

Yates left to teach in Fayette County.

Nick Barton would be a great hire but I doubt he will apply after being turned down 3 different times. If I was Nick and FHS comes calling I would tel them to go to the moon!

FHS has some talent need to make the right hire. SOmeone who wants to be there.

I have no idea if he is interested, but Johnny Leep from Trimble County would be a good hire. He has done a good job with Trimble, but that is a brutal district.

Frankfort can be a really good job, I think Frankfort should hire someone that wants to be there and is able to handle parent criticism.

Say what you want but it comes down to one thing. Will Foley do the right thing. Make excuses all you want about hiring someone in district or whatever but he has to do the right thing. Why wouldn't you want someone who WANTS to be at Frankfort High for the rest of their career? You have a qualified P.E. teacher in the building you don't need to hire someone to do that. As much as I want to believe the right thing will be done I wont be shocked when it doesn't. Final thought....the job of the AD is to see the athletic program as a whole is successful, not just one program.

This is a very important hire for the AD & High Admin. Another botched hire and they can close the doors on this basketball program.
Frankfort's numbers are down. They need to make sure all athletic departments are having success. Develop the Field of Dreams attitude "If you build they will come."

Not sure I would consider them "botched" hires both had successful resumes and varsity experience. The issue was the coaches "true" commitment to building the basketball program. As far as Foley's history, he made a good decision for the girls program. Of course, he found someone that practiced what they were preaching.

There has to be a commitment from the administration. Their numbers could increase with a stronger backing of the athletic program Until that happens it is hard for anyone to want to be there long term.

    What does this even mean?

I would say there has to be a commitment from the coach, first. None of the last 4 coaches have even chosen to live in the community. Does the administration support the girls program more than the boys? The girls just won the 11th region All A. Girls' coach doesn't live in the community either, but he is here ALL THE TIME.

You hit the nail on the head. Good news they have hired the right guy for the job in Nick Barton.

Yes Coach Norman has made a committment to the girls program. He has his hand not only on the high school program but building the program all the way down to the 4th grade!
